This week we continue our sermon series on that maddening teaching device called a parable, a story which on the surface seems simple (even trite) but after a time worms its way into our consciousness and challenges our assumptions. This week’s parable, which you can read here, is no exception.
On one level, this parable is about love expressed through generosity, but it also calls the question on the relationship between love and justice, between generosity and fairness, values that stand at the center of Christian life but which occasionally clash. These workers want justice. And who can blame them. But what happens when justice clashes with love?
We’ll explore the interplay of these two values and how we might apply them to our lives. It will be another great day at Covenant. Come and bring a friend.
