Dear Friends and Art Patrons,

"Thankful" and "grateful" are words that get tossed around at this time of the year so easily, and perhaps, carelessly. So I am going to use my new favorite four letter word, STOP.

STOP and think about where you are in your journey and where you would like to go next. STOP and see what is happening all around you, whether it is nature, family, or the mess that may be your studio. STOP busy work.

For me this last one is most important. To learn how to simply BE, to listen to my thoughts and not avoid them, listen to my words and their power, watch my hands create something and feel good about it. ART comes from within, from the first spark of an idea, to the excitement that builds as that idea grows into another idea. We artists paint with our eyes and then our hands, our hearts and then our minds. Some artists are more methodical than I, planning and plotting everything from start to finish. But for me, that’s why I call it my "Art Journey," I want to enjoy the ride not just the destination.

I’m excited to share that two big exhibits are in the works for 2022! More to come soon about these. In the meantime, be thankful and grateful and keep painting with your heart.
