Accreditation Newsletter - Volume 6

April 12, 2023

Dear AVC Community,

As we round up the spring semester in a few weeks, I’m excited to share some Accreditation updates and good news with you! Some of you who attended the President's Townhall meeting last week might have learned about it when the ALO, Dr. Goel, shared the updates.

If you recall, the Peer Review Team had a Zoom forum with the campus faculty and staff on March 6. I am glad to tell you that their feedback on the AVC campus community was very good because of the openness and positive comments at the forum. About a week after that, the team requested AVC to clarify and respond to 44 different questions, to which IERP (Institutional Effectiveness, Research & Planning) provided them the response immediately. They were again impressed with the quick response.

On March 24, they (Peer Review Team) met with the President, Dr. Zellet, and the ALO, Dr. Meeta Goel, to verbally give them the Core Inquiries—the formative component of our ISER feedback. They complimented the ISER (Institutional Self-Evaluation Report) submission, in which out of 44 inquiries, five still needed more evidence. We have until September 1 to respond to the five inquiries, which are in the following areas:

  • The Airframe degree program
  • AVC’s Correspondence Courses
  • The process by which we develop our Capital Plans and total cost of ownership of campus buildings
  • Employees’ Evaluation & Feedback processes

A huge thanks to the IERP staff and every one of you in one way or another; our hard work is paying off!

Our Site Visit has been confirmed for this fall—September 18 & 19, 2023.

Please review the ISER in the shared drive and spread the word at your department or division meetings, and with your students in preparation for our Site Visits. Let's share with everyone on campus, as every campus community member must be aware and ready for the Site Visit.

We are on course with our Accreditation Timeline, and I thank everyone for their hard work. Should you have any questions about this update, especially the upcoming Site Visit, please do not hesitate to email or call me (madebayoige@avc.edu and Ext. 6812).

In Collaboration,

Morenike Adebayo-Ige
