The results for the OKCMAR survey are in. OKCMAR would like to thank the membership for the great response. We exceeded our goal. The real work begins, as OKCMAR will use the survey to align the results with policy issues for 2022.
“The importance of the survey was to give guidance to OKCMAR as we represent the interest of our members on key issues,” stated Glen Cosper, OKCMAR Government Affairs Committee Chair. “We will be meeting in the coming months and working with OAR and our local elected officials to make sure OKCMAR’s membership’s voices are being heard.”
Survey Highlights:
- Overall, members are happy with the job OKCMAR® is doing and the direction Oklahoma City is moving.
- Homelessness is perceived as a big problem by members – 62 percent say it is a very big or fairly big problem.
- Fifty-seven percent say that addressing housing affordability should be an extremely high or high priority for the Oklahoma City government.
- To address affordable housing, members overwhelmingly favor structuring financial incentives. These include:
- Tax breaks for landlords who offer and maintain affordable properties
- Providing zero or low-interest loans to low-income homeowners who need assistance with structural repairs to help them stay in their homes
- Creating a revolving loan fund for small-scale developers to increase their access to capital and construction capacity
