Dean's Update: Connections through Exhibits

Not long ago, a colleague asserted that exhibit cases are archaic and have no place in the modern. That challenged me to think about if it was true or if, like most things library-related, the purpose remains but means of presentation change. Exhibits use visual displays to communicate and connect people to ideas - a classic role of libraries. This is especially relevant to current attempts to transform the Libraries, as it is the mission of the organization to ensure access to authoritative ideas and strengthen connections to scholarship. Exhibits provide a unique medium to communicate ideas, bringing them to life, and triggering new insights and forming new knowledge.

Watching a witness to history recount her life's story can be a deeply moving experience. Beginning this fall, the Libraries will provide access to USC Shoah Foundation's Visual History Archive.

UNDERSTANDING DEMANDS FOR LIBRARY SPACE
Drexel students know - space is limited at the Libraries- the lack of student space is one of the main complaints the Libraries receives through its online survey. Library buildings constructed decades ago did not anticipate the rapid growth that Drexel has seen in recent years. At the Libraries, staff continues to explore new ways to expand and innovate spaces to provide more learning environments for students.
