A weekly update for
Cape Cod Academy families
ALL-SCHOOL NEWS
Reminders for Next Week
Next week will be exciting with a variety of activities planned. Here are the important dates to remember:

Monday, December 13
Books for the lower school Secret Snowman Book Exchange are due no later than Monday. (If you are unable to send in a book by that date, please email Ms. Hobday at dhobday@capecodacademy.org, and she will make sure there is a book for your child to swap.)

Wednesday, December 15
All families and friends are invited to attend our annual All-School Holiday Concert at 6:00 p.m. Participating students need to arrive by 5:30 p.m. There will be no after-school practices on Wednesday for boys and girls playing middle school basketball.

Our School Store will be open in Chope Commons for holiday shopping prior to the concert.

Thursday, December 16
Lower school class holiday parties will take place.

Friday, December 17
This is a dress day for all students as CCA's in-school Holiday Concert takes place. This is for students, staff, and faculty only. Our traditional "12 Days of Christmas" sing-a-long will be performed during this concert only, so students should review which line is sung by their grade (e.g. the fifth grade sings "Five golden rings").

Middle and Upper school students will enjoy holiday lunches in their advisories. Lower school students will enjoy hot chocolate and a movie and the annual Secret Snowman Book Exchange.

Please note that both concerts are "dress" events. You can view the dress code for Special Occasion Dress Days for lower school students here and for middle and upper school students here.

CCA's Winterim Runs January 18-21

Cape Cod Academy is excited to launch its Winterim, a four-day program held between semesters when students take a break from the classroom to explore an area of interest in one of five areas: Health and Wellness, Academic Study, Outdoor Adventure, Service Learning, or Cultural Immersion. Winterim begins on Tuesday, January 18 and runs through Friday, January 21. Students choose their Winterim experience, and guided by local experts and faculty, engage in hands-on learning, creation, and field trips. The program culminates with a community event in which students showcase their work.

LOWER SCHOOL
Students Design and Decorate Tree in Osterville Center

Lower school students created unique ornaments in their art classes that are now hanging on the CCA pine tree located by the Library in Osterville Center.
The students were also given the opportunity to submit a design for the tree topper. The winning design was of a seahawk created by Henry Daigle '29 and then given to Ms. Hobday to develop into a topper with the school's 3-D printer. The decorated tree is part of Osterville's 52nd Annual Christmas Open House & Stroll with events taking place on Friday, December 10 and Saturday, December 11. See details here.
Citizens of the Week

Cooper Gray
Cooper has shown great perseverance since the start of school. He is becoming aware of his own learning style and is managing his school work with greater success. Cooper is becoming an excellent self-advocator. He continues to shine in his specialist classes and works hard daily to complete his work with pride.

Cooper has also shown peer leadership when it comes to including new students to the different aspects of CCA. This includes soccer games, classroom expectations, and playground structure rules. He makes others feel good about the work that they are doing and often gives compliments to boost his classmate’s confidence.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for CCA's
New Fitness Center
A group of students assisted CCA's Athletic Director, Jeff Conlon, and Head of School, Jeff Thompson, with cutting the ribbon to officially open CCA's new fitness center. Overlooking the upper school gym, the fitness center features free weights, full racks, medicine balls, kettle bells, four treadmills, two ellipticals, and one bike.
