We prepare this issue of In Circulation after coming in from the bitter cold, grateful to have kept those old long johns, hats and coats that might be unfashionable but keep us really warm. The notion of keeping things in case of a future need - or perhaps for nostalgia - causes many of us to hold onto stuff we may no longer use. If not managed well, it is easy to let our "just in case" stuff overtake our closets, basements, desks, as well as our inboxes and hard drives.

LIBRARIES INTRODUCE EXPANDED LAPTOP LENDING KIOSK
Last year, the Libraries Laptop Lending Kiosk was one of Drexel's most popular news stories with international coverage.This January, the Libraries doubled the amount of laptops available through the kiosk, making a total of 30 machines available for use.

Ever have those days where you look at your desk and wonder how it became a giant stack of papers? This happens to most of us, and when we're dealing with paper that covers our workspaces or filing cabinets, we are reminded that we have to take the time to do something about it. The New Year is a good time to tackle these kinds of projects, but oftentimes we overlook another kind of de-cluttering, the digital kind.

NEWS FROM LIBRARY SYSTEMS: Q&A WITH SPENCER LAMM, MANAGER, DISCOVERY SYSTEMS
To kick off the New Year, I sat down with our manager of discovery systems, Spencer Lamm to learn more about the work being done in the Libraries' systems department. Spencer joined the Libraries in July 2013 and hit the ground running - hiring for vacant positions, launching the USC Shoah Foundation archive, implementing redundancy and disaster recovery plans, and working with numerous teams and groups to plan for the upcoming year.
