LONE STAR PARK SET TO OPEN 2023 THOROUGHBRED RACING SEASON |

27th Thoroughbred Racing Season Kicks Off Thursday, April 13 |

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Thursday, April 6, 2023) - Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie is set to open for its 27th Thoroughbred Racing Season on Thursday, April 13. The 44-day meet will run through Tuesday, July 4th on select Thursday evenings, most Friday evenings, every Saturday and Sunday, Memorial Day and July 3 and July 4. First race Post Times are 6:35 p.m. each Thursday and Friday, 1:35 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays and Memorial Day and 5:00 p.m. on July 3 and July 4.

Marquee stakes days include Lone Star Million Day on Memorial Day, Lone Star Showcase Day on June 3, Summer Turf Festival on June 24 and Stars of Texas Day on July 1. Memorial Day features a blockbuster card, with six stakes forming Lone Star Million Day, headed by the $400,000, Grade 3 Steve Sexton Mile and the $300,000 Texas Derby. The meet’s 21 stakes will total more than $2.6 million.

Lone Star Park will feature a lively promotional schedule throughout the season that includes dates with live music, family fun activities, promotional giveaways, fireworks and more. On Opening Night, the season will kick off with the $75,000 Bluebonnet Stakes with a field of eight entered. Between the races, world-renowned Elvis tribute artist, Kraig Parker will be performing on the Courtyard of Champions stage. Sunday will feature a Crawfish Boil in the Courtyard of Champions with Zydeco music between the races by Jay-B and The Zydeco Posse. Total purses will average an estimated $260,000 per day for the 44-day meet.
