Veronica Juarez (CSRE '04) is Area Vice President, Social Enterprise, at Lyft Inc. and a Scout at Lightspeed Venture Partners. At Lyft she is committed to providing transportation access for non-profit organizations & government agencies. In 2015, she was named one of Fast Company Magazine’s Most Creative People in Business.

Reiko Osaka ('00) is President and CEO, Ikaso Consulting, a firm committed to serving the public interest through the advancement of state government operations. With experience in over 20 states, Reiko leads an team to achieve sustainable results in health and human services, procurement and contract negotiations.

Sheela Subramanian (CSRE '03) is Senior Director, Future Forum at Slack, where she leads go-to-market, content, and programming activities for the Future Forum. The Future Forum is a research-based consortium helping companies reimagine how they work—from leadership training to their inclusion efforts.

Last Friday's Chautauqua with CCSRE Faculty Research Fellow Matthew Clair (Soc), in conversation with CCSRE Faculty Affiliates Richard Banks (Law) and Subini Annamma (GSE), is now available to view on CCSRE's YouTube channel.

THE BOOK
Privilege and Punishment examines how racial and class inequalities are embedded in the attorney-client relationship, providing a devastating portrait of inequality and injustice within and beyond the criminal courts.

THE AUTHOR
Matthew Clair is Assistant Professor of Sociology and (by courtesy) Law at Stanford University. His scholarship examines how cultural meanings and interpersonal interactions reflect, reproduce, and challenge social inequality in laws, the legal profession, and the criminal legal system. He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
PRISONS, POLICING & RACIAL JUSTICE MOVEMENTS
ARTS + JUSTICE STUDENT GRANT
DUE NOVEMBER 30, 2020
The Arts + Justice Student Grant will fund undergraduate and graduate students as they investigate urgent matters around justice issues and the arts. Grants up to $1,000 are available to Stanford undergraduate, co-terminal, and graduate students.

Students may apply for the grant with a year-long creative project related to any number of justice issues including, but not limited to: Race Equity; Environmentalism; Mass Incarceration; Mental Health; LGBTQ+ Equity; Affordable Healthcare.

Awards range from $200-$1,000. In addition to the award, grantees will meet monthly (via Zoom) to workshop their projects and discuss the successes and struggles of their work. Visit the program page for additional eligibility criteria. Applications are due November 30, 2020 @ 11:59pm (Pacific). Funding decisions will be announced by December 11, 2020.
