Some of you may remember back to your elementary or middle school days when there was a certain person in the class that the teacher always chose to be the example of someone who always did well in their school work.  We would have called this person “The Teacher’s Pet,” right?  Worship with us Sunday to find out what being chosen really means!  Pastor Todd

Upcoming Opportunity

to Serve!

We are going to get 2023 off to a GREAT start here at Saint Mark as the Service/Missions team introduces us to the work of the Wilderness Way Girls' Camp and how we can help this important ministry.

On Wednesday, January 11, our monthly Wednesday Gathering Meal will include a presentation by the campers and staff from the “Girls' Camp”. If you are new to the idea of Wilderness Way, you are in for an unexpected treat, and if you already know about the “Camp,” then this is a must.

But there is more! We as a church have been sponsoring “Camp” for many years through donations and volunteering. One of their main streams of income is sales from their thrift stores. So, what can we do help?

Well, Saturday, January 14 at 9 am, we will find a truck load of bags of clothing in the Saint Mark Center that will need to be sorted. Men, women, boy and girl. Summer/winter. We will not be pricing, only trying to streamline the sorting process. The sorted groups of clothing will be boxed and labeled. We hope to be completed with the boxes loaded by 12:00pm.

The Service & Mission team hopes that this event will help raise awareness of the mission and vision of the Wilderness Way Girls' Camp and the ways we can continue to support this important ministry. Come have fun with us!

On January 15, 2023 we will observe Human Relations Sunday in both worship services. Worship is planned around the theme "Toward Beloved Community". Church and Society Ministry Team members will lead worship. The "sermon" will be a dialogue featuring several lay participants in our on-going pilot groups sharing experiences as "Courageous Caring Conversations" evolve.

DRUMS ALIVE FOR ADULTS!!

Saint Mark is launching a new community-based program that combines fitness and music and fun! Come get a sneak peak on Monday, Jan. 23 at 10 am in the Saint Mark Center. All equipment is provided - just wear comfortable clothes and shoes and come for an hour of fellowship and fun.

Master trainer Kelly Jackson will introduce us to the ins and outs of Drums Alive, and she is an expert at modifying the program for all activity and fitness levels. Cost is $5 per person. Contact Laura Ritter with any questions.

Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings, will offer affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings at Saint Mark United Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

2023 Environmental Stewardship Challenge

Reduce . Reuse . Recycle . Rethink

Join together with the rest of the Saint Mark congregation to see what positive impacts we, by working as a team, can have on the environment! By joining with us in this effort, you might save some $$ along the way, as well as have a chance to enter a prize drawing. And the largest reward will be knowing that by making a few small changes, you are helping to care for our environment so that it stays vibrant and beautiful for our children and their children.

Over the course of 2023, we will spend each calendar quarter focused on one of these areas: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Rethink.

While an individual or family alone may have a small impact, we hope that by leveraging the strength of our congregation as a whole, we will create an even larger impact.

The Saint Mark Church & Society Team hopes that you will join us in the 2023 Environmental Stewardship Challenge!
