American Indian Youth Literature Award
The American Indian Library Association (AILA), an affiliate of the American Library Association, identifies and honors the very best writing and illustrations by and about Native Americans and Indigenous peoples of North America. Hoċokata Ti CommUNITY Day
Saturday, November 13, 10am-4pm
Right in our back yard and hosted by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, this free event is dedicated to sharing and learning about Dakota culture and history. From traditional games and nature walks to Indigenous food and arts and crafts, this family-friendly event is a unique opportunity for visitors to learn and understand more about Dakota people.

Preschool Read & Create: Dino-Mite!
Pick up a To-Go Dino-Mite project starting 11/15 and until supplies last
Best for ages 3-5. Visit your library during open hours to pick up this Read & Create project to make at home! While supplies last.

Enjoy Ms Ally's Dinosaurs mini-early literacy video
Best for ages 2-5. Join us for a fun dinosaur story, song, and rhyme in this mini-early literacy class video. Available beginning 11/15 HERE.
Family Fun Spots
Visit your library's Children's Area any time during open hours to enjoy this fun, self-directed STEM activity. Ideal for ages 3-6, but all ages and abilities are welcome.
Story Stations
Best for ages 2-5, but all ages and abilities are welcome. Engage your child with self-directed learning stations that develop the five early literacy practices of Read, Write, Sing, Play, & Talk, plus kindergarten readiness skills. 20-minute walk-in or online appointments are available and are limited to one household at a time.

Under the Sea with Pete the Cat
Ride along with Pete and friends as you enjoy undersea adventures in this self-directed program.


Wheel-y Fun with Daniel Tiger
Join Daniel Tiger and friends for a self-directed activities celebrating things that zoom, vroom, and speed around the room!

Join Ryder, Chase, and the rest of the PAW Patrol for an out of this world adventure in this self-directed program.


Elementary & Teen Activities
Thanksgiving Break To Go pickup for elementary

Starting Monday 11/15 until supplies last. Best for ages 6-11. Visit your library during open hours and pick up a project exploring historical December traditions, created especially for the library by the Scott County Historical Society.

Waggin' Tales at Prior Lake & Savage Libraries

School-age kids can practice reading to a trained therapy dog with a good ear for stories. Bring your own books, or pick one of ours. Call the library to sign up for a date and time.

At Home TEEN Gratitude Lantern Project - registration required
For ages 12-18 ONLY; registration required. Pick up your kit with materials to make and decorate two gratitude lanterns, similar to traditional water lanterns seen in several Asian countries. Kit has materials for two lanterns to do with a friend or make one for yourself and one to give away!
Sign up now through 11/14 for pickup on 11/16.

Caregiver Corner
Looking for youth development & activities for your child? Check out 4-H!
4-H is an out-of-school, hands-on learning program for people age 5-19. Youth choose a project that’s interesting to them and explore it with peers and caring adults. 4-H clubs are groups of youth who want to learn together and meet in every part of Minnesota.
