Student investigations spotlighted at College of Science and Mathematicsโ€™ Festival of Research

Detection of heavy metals using nanoparticles. Wastewater surveillance that enables early detection of coronaviruses. Counterproductive work behaviors. Personality variables related to political affiliation. This was among the research presented by students at the Festival of Research.
Our office hosted a Latin American Coffee Party on Friday, Oct. 15 to highlight Latin American culture by allowing students to sample coffee from various countries.

Halloween Traditions - Pumpkin Carving

Learn how to celebrate Halloween in America on Friday, October 29th from 3 pm to 4 pm! Come and carve a pumpkin with us. Costumes are encouraged. You will see people wearing them across campus this day.

The Conversational English Partners at WSU invites you to attend a Traditional American Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov 12 at 6:30 pm at Fairborn Senior Center

Everyone who attends should have a ticket so that they know how much food to prepare.

Those picking up the tickets should provide a phone number for contact if any changes will occur.
Transcript Review
Wright State University International Admissions has opted to receive your transcripts/mark sheets from New Students for Summer and Fall Semesters anytime during UCIEโ€™s regular business hours. Weโ€™ve also designated two drop box locations for your convenience.
We wonโ€™t be able to review them while you wait, but they will be reviewed within 7-10 business days of receipt.  We will send an email to your Wright State University email when they are ready to be picked up. Please be sure to include your original official transcripts, mark sheets (with holograms if applicable) and degree certificates. 

You may drop your original documents at one of the following locations: 
  1. The University Center for International Education (UCIE) Front Desk (190 Student Union) during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  2. Drop Box located outside UCIE (190 Student Union) if you are unable to come to campus. 
  3. Drop Box located outside Room 311 Russ Engineering (Electrical Engineering Dept.) 

The International Admissions Team will review your transcripts and end-date your transcript hold. 
Important Deadlines

  • Oct. 22 - Last day to drop course without a grade (B term)
  • Oct. 22 - Last day to drop course with a W grade (Full term)
  • Nov. 5 - Last day to drop course with a W grade (B term)

OPT Application 2021
OPT Application Submission
for Fall 2021

If you are an international student graduating in the Fall 2021 semester, you may start applying for OPT on September 12, 2021.

Please use this link to access and complete all required documents for the OPT application.

Choose an OPT start date between December 11, 2021 and February 8, 2022. The final date for Fall 2021 graduates to submit application materials for OPT is February 8, 2022.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have any reservations regarding graduation for Fall 2021 semester, please do not apply for OPT until after semester end grades have been posted.
Maintaining status on OPT is still the same as usual
You are permitted only 90 days of unemployment between the start and end dates on your EAD card. In addition, you are required to report the following information through the SEVP Portal while on OPT within 10 days from the change:
 
1. When you start a new job.
2. When you change addresses.
3. Periods of unemployment.
4. 6-month validation (You can email fei.yu@wright.edu after you update your employment information and residential address through SEVP Portal)
 
Can I travel back to my home country during OPT period?

Please be aware that if you are unemployed for more than 90 days, you will lose your OPT status. Also, during this uncertain time, we do not suggest international travel as there is no guarantee of open borders.
COVID-19 Updates
Dayton Campus COVID-19 testing and vaccination center opens, required surveillance testing begins

The center will offer free COVID-19 vaccines to students, faculty and staff and weekly required surveillance testing of randomly selected community members.

Wright State faculty, staff, and registered students can pick up a new free Wright State face mask! Please bring your Wright1 Card to The Hangar, Union Market, Starbucks, Tim Horton's, Rey Rey Cafรฉ, or Raider Mart. See the cashier for your face mask.
COVID-19 vaccination reporting and giveaway now open

Uploading your vaccine card and entering the vaccination giveaway are free. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. on November 22, 2021.
Apply for Covid-19 Relief Funding!

Are you registered for classes for Fall 21? You can apply for the COVID relief funds!
You must select a reason for why you need COVID-19 relief funds.

COVID-19 Self Reporting Form

If you test positive for COVID, you must self-isolate and/or quarantine as recommended by the CDC. Please also submit a self-report form.
Student Resources
Counseling and Wellness Services

Students can now reach a Raider Cares counselor at 937-775-4567.
It is a 24/7 telephone crisis service. They offer a wide range of therapeutic services including group, individual, couples, and family therapy.
Women's Center provides personal care items such as toothpaste, body wash, deodorant, tampons, etc. The pantry is open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The use of all types of tobacco products is prohibited in all university facilities, on all university-owned or leased grounds, including the woods, university-owned or operated residence halls and apartments at Dayton and Lake campuses, and at all university-sponsored events, regardless of location.
Fraudulent Advisory
Be aware of Phishing and Fake Job Offer Scams that you may receive in your email. CaTS has noticed a recent increase in the number of phishing attempts, specifically fake job offer scams and gift card exchanges, targeting Wright State faculty, staff, and students.๏ปฟ
