Weekly Director Letter 05/13/2022
Dear Parents,

The countdown has begun...with just 19 school days left, our staff is busy getting ready for year end festivities and planning a wonderful summer program for your child.

On June 6th we will be posting the fall class lists. On June 13th all students will move to their fall classes. We do this so that the children will have the summer when enrollment is lower to get to know their new teacher and classroom. For Summer, kids can wear the school t-shirt everyday if they wish.

Please mark your calendars for the following events:

May 30: Closed for Memorial Day

June 8: VPK Graduation at The Country Walk Clubhouse
9:30 Purple Door, 10:45 Orange Door 12:00 Brown Door
Boys should wear dark pants and a white shirt, dresses and comfy shoes for girls. Due to limited space and social distancing, only one guest per child will be admitted. Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can start on time. After the ceremony, please plan to take your child home with you. There is no school for VPK that day. Pre VPK kids not graduating will be cared for in Purple Door for the day by staff.

June 9th: No school for K-2. Assemblies at the Clubhouse will be as follows:
Kindergarten 9:30, First and Second Grade 11:30. Boys should wear dark pants and a white shirt, dresses and comfy shoes for girls. Due to limited space and social distancing, only one guest will be admitted. Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can start on time. After the ceremony, please plan to take you child home with you.

June 10th: CLOSED for summer camp preparations.

Thank you to the families of Rainbow Door for sponsoring the teacher lunch this week. Everyone was touched by your kindness. Next Thursday Purple and Orange families will sponsor the lunch. The sign up sheet is in the front window.

Finally, as the school year comes to a close, many parents have asked about appropriate year end gift of gratitude for the teachers who have spent the last ten months loving and nurturing your child as their own. Many years ago by a parent request we started the year end teacher gift program. Participation in this is optional but it is greatly appreciated by staff.

For those who wish to participate, will be given a tiny envelope. Just as people are tipped in other industries, this is one way to acknowledge outstanding service. The suggested donation is $10 per teacher in the room. Families are however free to whatever they wish in the envelope. As you know it takes a village. 90% of all monies collected will go to the classroom teacher. The remaining 10% will be shared between other staff which include Maria in the Kitchen, Delly and Miriam in the office, and Jackie who does soccer and hands your child out the door each and every day. Our three Afterschool High Schoolers are not included in this as they only interact with a small groups of kids. I will give them gift cards.

Families can either turn in the envelope with cash or I will gladly bill your Brightwheel account and put cash in for you. If you wish to do this simply write BILL and the amount and turn in the empty envelope. On the last day of school teachers and support staff will get a card with the cash and the names of those who participated. I know some parents like to give other year end gifts, so participating in this is optional.

Have a wonderful weekend!
