Noise

In this crazy world,  the environment of unsettled chaos often seems to be trying to seep into every nook of our lives.  The continued background noise that surrounds us is striving to get our attention everyday and to keep our thoughts and actions of true importance off track.

I was thinking about this the other day. We truly are
bombarded by news feeds, talk of taking vaccines or not, restless worries that can’t be tamed, holiday fares to come, busy schedules that keep us on a (often times self induced) treadmill,  financial woes, life adjustments etc etc.  The noise about us is an influencer, interrupter, a sideline, and a distraction to what is a primary need for me and I bet to many of you.

We get trapped by so many times indulging in what we have found to be escape tunnels from the world that surrounds us.  We each have our own version of what works,,, even if it is temporary.  But I have found that my best and most successful escape is when I just choose 'one on one' time with God. For that is where my thoughts are transformed into a wholesome array of well being, knowing and being reminded once again that God holds all the cards.

We all need downtime.  A time of quiet and peaceful reflection to rejuvenate and reflect on what is truly important and who is really important, and face the reality that it is not me!

I know God is invisible, I know he does not speak in audible voice but I also know that if any of us make a concentrated effort to pray and share with God our praises and inter most concerns, that he hears us. Our prayers will be answered, in his timing and in his ways according to His will and not ours. But we must strive to tune out the noise that so many times is just rubbish.  This is an effort that for me, and sometimes hard to accomplish; first of all that I forget it is a viable option (duh)  at any time in any place, a closet even works, or a walk, or in the car without the radio, and truth be told, second of all, it is sometimes is just more convenient to find that tunnel than to address head on some of lifes' tough issues. And just a note here: God already knows what struggles each of us are are facing...he just wants us to address him directly through prayer. For when we do, we begin to look expectantly for his answers. It could be in a song, a word from a friend, a scripture, or even something that is put before you that you have never noticed.

God is the creator, and controller of the universe…”noise” is empty, has little truth, no depth and is an element to keep us in a fluctuating state of either trying to fix something, worrying about something or just flat sending a dark could to hover over us.  Background noise attempts to subvert the power and authority of God to that of the world. And anything the world offers is temporary where as God is eternal.

Ok, this is the message…. strive to find the quiet time, and let God have the privilege to block out the noise that surrounds you. I promise you will be blessed by the effort. I know I am when I take that time to make a choice to give God my undivided attention, even if it is just for a few minutes.  He is always willing to give his time right back!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
