TOGETHER WE CAN!
Note from the Principal
Dear CenDen Families:

With our recent snowfall, we wanted to share a few VERY IMPORTANT reminders with you about our pick-up and drop-off procedures.  The normal procedures are included in the handout below for your review, but I would like to share some additional helpful hints that make a difference, especially with the addition of snow.

*Please approach the lines with caution.  With the addition of snow piles and slippery roadways, the street narrows down a bit making it more difficult to see clearly and maneuver around safely.

*Have your children get in and out of the car on the passenger side of the vehicle This keeps them safely on the sidewalk with no risk of getting pinched between two vehicles or getting hit by a car out in the roadway.

*PATIENCE…Honking, yelling, or swearing at people does not make the line move faster and only adds to the frustration for everyone.

*If you don’t like to wait in line, consider coming a bit later.  Five minutes makes quite a bit of difference.   School starts at 8:45 and dismissal is at 3:45.  If you come too early, you will need to wait in line longer.

*If you are picking up or dropping off at Cook Street, enter the line from NORTH STREET.  Do not try to cut into the line at Dodge Street.

*Also, if dropping off on Cook Street, please DO NOT turn into the back alley driveway and drop your child off.  It blocks the sidewalk and causes unsafe conditions for those families who are walking their children to the door and need to cross the driveway areas.  It might seem more convenient for you, but it is not safe for others.

*DO NOT park in the alley while waiting for your child.  The alley behind Central-Denison is a public thoroughfare.

*If you are picking up or dropping off on Madison Street, please approach the line from the south (closest to the lake).  Madison Street is quite narrow and it is not safe to drop your child off on the west side of the road and ask them to cross.

*Use the crosswalks – Set an example for our students and be safe, even if it is a few steps out of the way.

We work very hard to make our pick-up and drop-off areas safe for everyone, whether you are a child getting into or out of a car, or a parent trying to pick up or drop off your child.  It is not our intention to cause anyone undue stress, that is why we have the plans in place that we do. We know that it is not ideal, but it works…when we work together.  If the pick-up and drop-off lines don’t work for your family’s needs, please remember, the bus is always an option or you can contact the office for alternative ideas.

Thank you for your help in keeping our school safe.

Winter Weather Wear
Here are a few helpful hints regarding winter gear and school:

Stretchy gloves are wonderful, but they get wet very quickly. Having a couple extra pairs of gloves in their backpack can help to ensure that your child has warm, dry hands.

Wet feet can also be a problem. An extra pair of socks in their backpack will also be helpful in keeping your child warm and dry throughout the day.

PLEASE…BE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD’S NAME IS ON THEIR GEAR. It is difficult to keep track of which black snowpants belong to which child when nearly every student has very similar black snowpants.

It is important for you to know that we go outside for recess when the “feels like temperatures” are 0 degrees or above. You can see why winter gear is important.
Winter Pick up and Drop off Zones
CAUTION! Our pick-up and drop-off areas get a little dangerous during the snowy winter season. Not only is it slippery, but the snow piles on the sides of the road make it difficult to see the surrounding area. Combining those two conditions can make for a dangerous situation. PLEASE… use the crosswalks and drive slowly through these areas to help keep these areas safe.

Food Services

Dear Lake Geneva Schools Families,

Lake Geneva Food Service is participating in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the entirety of the 2021-22 school year. This means that our schools provide free meals to all students! This program provides additional support and flexibility for our district to continue serving meals to children while maintaining safety measures and managing the impacts of the COVI D-19 pandemic.

Included in the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are nationwide supply chain and product availability shortages. Disruptions are due to a lack of availability of raw ingredients and labor to produce, unload, and transfer food products. Some food and/or beverage products normally provided to students may not be available or arrive as scheduled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, last-minute menu changes and product substitutions may occur. Be assured meals will remain balanced, healthy, and plentiful. We ask for patience and understanding as we do our best to meet the needs of your children.

Please contact me with any questions at 262-348-1015 or email me at jaclyn.sanders@badger.k12.wi.us

Sincerely,
Jaclyn Sanders
