March 2020 to current has been riddled with challenges that have been amplified due to the pandemic. The community has been in need and UCC along with many other organizations and individuals continue to rise to the challenge.
Last Month's Recap
UCC hosted a Community Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, Sept. 25. Alongside 10 different partners, UCC served 298 individuals with information regarding mental, health, intellectual, financial and educational wellness.

Partnered with the Essex County Department of Health 20 individuals were vaccinated for COVID-19 on site.
The event's goal was to celebrate and unite the community while spreading awareness of UCC’s key role in the war on poverty.
Housing Assistance
NEW PROJECT FUNDING

UCC was recently awarded three major grant projects from the NJDCA, US Federal Government and Partners In Health. All new funding sources are to enhance specific programs already operating within the UCC anti-poverty model. These funds were made available to local social service providers in an effort to address the community’s response to the pandemic and its economic slowdown in Newark.
Under New Jersey's eviction moratorium, landlords can still jump-start the eviction process and be ready to kick out non-paying tenants the day the moratorium ends. As a tenant or home owner you can begin preparing for this process.
