**A note about the Maundy Thursday Soup and Bread Supper. On Maundy Thursday we remember the “Last Supper” when Jesus was arrested following his celebration of the Passover with his disciples. It is our tradition to hold a “soup and bread supper” prior to the Worship Service held to commemorate that night. The soup is provided by the Deacons and other volunteers. All members and friends are invited to attend.
***In addition to Holy Week services at HSCPC, our choir will be joining with the Palm City Presbyterian Church choir for presentation of TENEBRAE, A Service of Shadows, at the Palm City church, 2700 SW Martin Hwy, at 7:00PM on GOOD FRIDAY.
| |
MUSIC DIRECTOR DR. ANITA CASWELL has planned some special music for the Maundy Thursday and Easter Sunday services.
On Maundy Thursday cellist Jayne Bouchfaa will perform with the choir on a selection from the Good Friday Cantata. Ms Bouchfaa is a cellist of great renown, celebrated for her exceptional talent and contributions to the music world, particularly on the Treasure Coast, Her involvement with various orchestras has enriched the cultural tapestry of the community. She is known for her ability to bring compositions to life, infusing each note with passion and grace. Her playing is described as beautiful to the ear and a testament to her mastery of the cello.
On Easter Sunday, the church Bell Choir will participate in both services, accompanied by pianist Leanne Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell is originally from the Pacific Northwest where she studied music at Pacific Lutheran University and received her BA in music composition, theory and literature from Seattle Pacific University. She has served in a musical capacity at many different churches of various denominations in Washington, Illinois and here in Florida. She currently teaches music to the grammar school students at The Oaks Classical Christian Academy in Stuart. She is also the collaborative pianist for the Murray Middle School choirs, under the direction of Dr. Caswell.

EASTER FLOWER CROSS
As has become a tradition in our church, we will be erecting the “flower cross” for Easter Sunday. Church members, friends, and neighbors of the church are invited to bring flowers on Easter Sunday morning to help decorate the cross. These can be flowers you grow in your own yard, or flowers from an Easter bouquet.
| | |
EASTER LILIES
This year we will once again have Easter Lilies in our Sanctuary on Easter Sunday. The plants are being donated, and are available for purchase, with the proceeds serving as a donation to the Church Memorial Garden. If you purchase a lily (or lilies), it can be taken home after the 10:30 Easter Sunday Worship Service. The cost is $12.00 per lily.

SPECIAL OFFERINGS AT EASTER
At Easter time, in addition to our regular weekly offerings, we traditionally reach out beyond our own church to help meet needs of others, locally and beyond.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING: During the season of Lent, the Presbyterian Church participates with other denominations worldwide in One Great Hour of Sharing.
Each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing supports efforts to relieve hunger through the Presbyterian Hunger Program, promote development through the Presbyterian Committee on the Self-Development of People, and assist in areas of disaster through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance.
This offering will be received throughout the month of April, and an envelope for the One Great Hour of Sharing offering can be found in the envelope holders in front of your pew.
CHURCH EASTER OFFERING: Each year the Session identifies a recipient of a special Easter Offering. This year the Elders chose to support The Special Olympics. Diane Atkisson’s son Bobby Dwyer finds great pleasure in participating locally in these special sporting events.
An Easter Offering envelope can be found in your box of weekly offering envelopes. If you don’t use these you can make a donation using a Mission envelope found in the pew boxes, and identify it as “Easter Offering”

PALM SUNDAY SUNRISE SERVICE

All were treated to a delicious Beef Stroganoff dinner prepared by Judy Doverspike, served with noodles, green beans prepared by Kathy Oldham, and a variety of desserts prepared by several volunteers. | |

The church Thrift Store is open on Sunday mornings during Fellowship Hour after the Worship Service. It contains a large variety of items, both decorative and useful, that are just waiting to find their new homes.
Members and friends of the church are encouraged to pay the store a visit on Sunday mornings after Church. All proceeds from sales are donated to help meet the financial obligations of the Church.
Locally collected raw honey is also available for “purchase.” T J Gilson has made available jars of local raw honey collected by an apiary business in Palm City for which he works. The “sale price” is a voluntary donation which will be allocated for church structural and roof repairs.

HOBE SOUND COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
BUILDING ON A STRONG FOUNDATION
On January 10, 1926, Hobe Sound Community Church was organized under the supervision of the Presbyterian Church, USA.
As we look toward our 100th birthday, we are making plans for the exciting centennial celebration to take place in the year 2026. These plans include an ambitious and much needed Building Improvement Plan extending through 2025, and beyond. All donations to this fund-raising campaign to help maintain and preserve our historical church facility will be warmly received and appreciated.
THE FIRST PHASE OF THE BUILDING IMPROVEMENT PLAN consisted of installation of new storm resistant windows in the Sanctuary and Manse, and accompanying needed repairs.
THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of renovations in the kitchen and fellowship hall.
THE THIRD PHASE OF THE PLAN consisted of repair and painting of the church steeple.
THE FOURTH (AND FINAL) PHASE will be replacement of the church roof and attached structures. Fund raising projects are continuously underway to make this major and expensive project possible, hopefully before the beginning of the Centennial Celebration next January
SPECIAL RECOGNITION is due to Elder Raelyn Holmes, the chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee. She has taken charge of all the detailed work involved in getting bids, selecting vendors, keeping track of work schedules, checking on work-site progress and being available to the work crew for questions. Thank you, Raelyn, for all the time and effort you have put into this and the many previous building improvement projects.
