Forgotten Stories From the Homefront: Jews in Western Pennsylvania During World War I
Sunday, Nov. 12 | 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. | Heinz History Center
Admission is free with registration.

While Jewish soldiers from Western Pennsylvania fought in World War I a century ago, their Jewish communities back at home were fighting a separate set of battles. These local battles dealt with patriotism, civil rights, Zionism, fundraising, unionism, religious traditions, and communal bonds.

Using materials from the   Rauh Jewish History Program & Archives' collections, Detre Library & Archives researchers Tammy Hepps and Eric Lidji will examine how world-changing events both challenged and enhanced the identities of typical Jews in Western Pennsylvania.
