Livingston County was recently named a Clean Energy Community by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) following its efforts to create a healthy sustainable environment through investments in future-focused clean energy solutions.

Sheriff’s Office to Fight Domestic Terrorism with New Threat Assessment Team


The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has received more than $172,000 from the Department of Homeland Security’s Domestic Terrorism Prevention Grant Program for the creation and administration of a new County-wide Threat Assessment Management Team (TAMT).

Department of Homeland Security Extends Deadline to Obtain REAL ID


Passed by Congress in 2005 following a 9/11 Commission recommendation, the REAL ID Act establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards.

Area Resident Donates $20,523 to County Dog Control


The Livingston County Board of Supervisors voted Wednesday, December 21 on behalf of the County’s Dog Control office to accept a $20,523 donation from the estate of former area resident Edward J. Sick.

County Awarded Grant for Mobile and Manufactured Home Replacement Project


The New York State Office of Community Renewal recently announced that Livingston County has been awarded $550,000 in funding through its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), which will be used to fund a Mobile and Manufactured Home Replacement Project in partnership with Cattaraugus Community Action, Inc. (CCA) and the Livingston County Land Bank Corporation.

County Piloting New Way to Take Civil Service Exam for Correctional Officers


Livingston County is looking to fill numerous Correctional Officer vacancies and is pioneering what it hopes will become a new tool in its recruitment efforts. Livingston County is one of just 12 counties from across New York State selected to participate in a newly formed test format by the New York State Civil Service Department.

County Encourages Residents to Take Precautions Against Carbon Monoxide Poisoning


Every year, hundreds of people die and thousands are injured from unsuspected exposure to an odorless, colorless gas—carbon monoxide (CO). Studies by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that, while people recognize CO gas is poisonous, they perceive CO as less dangerous than other household hazards.

Empire Access Set to Begin Broadband Construction in Livingston County

FCC Releases National Broadband Map and Asks for Public Feedback


“We are encouraging residents to check the National Broadband Map created by the FCC and to submit a challenge if the data is inaccurate,” said County Administrator Ian M. Coyle. “It’s imperative that our voice be heard as this map will shape how broadband-related funding is disbursed and will play a pivotal role in helping to bring broadband infrastructure to underserved areas.”
