Despite the year’s challenges, 2021 was full of exciting activity featuring the SS United States, and there’s fresh hope as we look ahead to 2022. While we are monitoring the COVID pandemic closely, we hope to once again be able to gather in person. Exciting events are being planned for Manhattan’s Steinway Hall, Virginia’s Mariners’ Museum in Newport News (an extravaganza being organized by the Conservancy’s Hampton Roads Chapter for the weekend of April 9-10), and of course the Conservancy’s long-awaited, week-long Legacy Cruise in partnership with the Pollin Group setting sail from New York City on August 21.
Our global community is growing, and we’ve continued to make steady progress toward our goal of ensuring this symbol of America’s resilience, strength, and innovation endures and inspires for generations to come. But we can't do it alone.
There's still time to renew your membership or make a donation and claim it for the 2021 tax year.* Today, we face new hurdles. The dramatic increase in the ship’s pier rent has intensified our financial challenges. However, the SS United States has always turned adversity into opportunity and achievement. With your continued support, she will do so again.
On behalf of the Conservancy's entire board of directors, please accept our deepest gratitude for your continued support.
