Lafayette, CA 94549
๐ท Steve Johnson, 925-351-5709
I am a 65 year on and off resident of Lafayette and graduate of Acalanes and Cal Berkeley. I spent 12 years operating a produce store and juice bar in Lafayette and Walnut Creek. After an opportunity for reflection I decided to pursue working with wood as that has been my passion since I was 10 and built 20 or so skateboards. My brother and I began doing wood display cases for Sennelier art products but eventually settled on doing hardwood floors. This financed eventually a complete woodshop and over time a large collection of rare and highly figured wood with the eventual goal of working on furniture featuring this wood.
Finally I retired this year and I am building beautiful furniture as art.

Business Person of the Year Dinner
Friday, June 24, 2022, 6pm-9pm, Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa
The Lafayette Chamber is thrilled to announce John McCormick as our 2022 Business Person of the Year. We will host the award dinner on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Lafayette Park Hotel & Spa.
John McCormick, co-owner of Lamorinda Music, took the reigns as President of the Lafayette Chamber in January 2020. Little did he know what kind of year it was going to be. We began the year with President John giving a beginnerโs lesson on the Ukulele to the entire board at our annual retreat. We agreed on all kinds of new programs along with debating social and political positions. We had a full agenda and John was ready for the challenge. Shortly after the retreat we found ourselves at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. The goals and projects changed and with Johnโs leadership, the Chamber was able to pivot to a new purpose, saving our local economy.
We all know the sacrifices and hurdles small businesses had to endure through nearly two years. John was so dedicated to help our local businesses, he asked to stay on for a second year, and oh what a year it was. During this most challenging time for our community, John not only provided leadership to our business partners, but also ran a very successful music store with his wife Colleen, and is now finishing his Masterโs in History from Harvard. During his presidency, our membership grew to over 620 members including 100 new members in 2021 alone. The Chamber worked with the City of Lafayette and Contra Costa County to advocate for our business community. By providing loan resources and facilitating online learning gatherings, Q&A sessions and updating changing Covid protocols as well as helping our restaurants create safe outdoor dining experiences all with the mission to keep Lafayette strong during a challenging time.
Learn more about John McCormick and the Lafayette Business Person of the Year at
We look forward to seeing you on June 24!

Thank you Lafayette Art and Wine Festival Entertainment Sponsors!
The Lafayette Art, Wine and Music Festival is the biggest downtown party in the county. Donโt miss your chance to be a part of the celebration and festivities. 85,000 people strolled our boulevard and side streets back in 2019 visiting our commercial vendors, brick and mortar store retail fronts, dining in our local restaurants, browsing the art and handmade craft booths, tasting from a variety of food vendors and food trucks as well as sipping quality wines and microbrews, pausing to enjoy continuous music from our four stages.
We proudly have 160 local businesses and organizations participating at all different levels plus another 200 art and craft vendors. Donโt miss the opportunity to engage. And we always welcome volunteers to join the festival committee. Cheers to the best 2022 event season ahead!
This week we thank our entertainment sponsors!
We are nearly sold out! Very limited spacing left. If interested in sponsorship, a beer booth or vendor booth please contact [email protected].

Volunteers Needed for Orinda July 4 Parade
If you plan to be in town, please consider volunteering for brief timeframes (itโs always fun!). Biggest need right now is for ADULTS on the Parade Staging and Route Monitor crews.
Parade staging:
6 adults needed to help โset the stageโ (mark the East BART parking lot with parade entrant numbers in the correct order) the night before the parade, and 6 adults to โline โem up and move โem outโ (again at the East BART parking lot staging area) on the start time of the parade. Reporting to Andy Radlow, chair of Staging/ Operations.
NEED 6 adults for each of 2 shifts. If volunteers could swing both shifts, that is extra ideal (but not necessary)!
July 3, 6PM-8:30PM
July 4, 9AM-10:30AM
Route Monitoring:
NEED 20 adults to assemble (singly or in pairs) at various โbunch points,โ eg corners and show stops, along the parade route to ensure that the parade participants run smoothly and without gaps. There will also be an element of crowd controlโ just so kids donโt run into the oncoming parade(!) and in case the candy-throwing gets out of control. :-) These folks will have walkie-talkies and will be in contact with Andy Radlow and Anil Comelo (chairs of Operations and Safety).
When: July 4, 9AM-11:30AM (or when parade finishes)
