ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW: OPEN HOUSE, THURSDAY, JANUARY 26, 6:00-8:00pm Please join the entire Campolindo community for Open House 2023. During this event, staff, student, and parent leaders will present about Campolindo’s academic and extracurricular programs. NEW: CSF APPLICATIONS The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) application will be completed online this semester and the submission window will run from January 23 through February 16. CSF is a statewide organization that honors outstanding high school students for their academic achievements based upon each semester's grades. Complete information about CSF, including the online application form that must be completed to qualify for membership, can be found here: CSF Application. Questions? Contact Duane Magno in the Counseling Office.


NEW: PARENT PRESENTATION OF SUBSTANCE-FREE ATHLETICS (SFA) SFA is a nationally recognized youth prevention program that brings the latest scientific evidence about substances and sports to high school athletes and the coaches and parents that support them. Debbie Berndt, the speaker, works with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), as both a Subject Matter Expert in Marijuana and as a Host of the podcast, What Parents are Saying, part of the nationally recognized Talk. They Hear You prevention campaign for parents. She is also the Director for Parents Movement 2.0 and Substance-Free Athletics, both educational programs designed to assist in reducing underage substance use. Parents with athletes of any kind will find this webinar useful. This event will be held at Miramonte Library and over Zoom on February 7, 6:30-8:30pm. Register here.


CAMPOLINDO JAZZ BAND--AN EVENING OF DINING AND DANCING On behalf of the Campolindo High School Instrumental Music Boosters Club, please join us on Saturday, February 11 from 5:30-9:30pm at Creekside Commons in Lafayette for an evening of dining and dancing. The Campolindo Jazz Band, along with other musicians from the Instrumental Music Program, will play an eclectic mix of jazz and big band music. There will also be a silent auction. This fundraiser benefits the Campo instrumental musicians and we hope to see you there! Click here to buy tickets.


CAMPO STUDENT UNION The Student Union is a peer mediation service offered by students that is dedicated to promoting a campus of belonging and inclusivity. Students can use the Student Union as a resource to repair and/or navigate friendship misunderstandings, resolve conflicts on sports teams or in extracurricular clubs, navigate interactions with teachers and practice self-advocacy, and be an effective upstander when witnessing any incidents of bias on campus. All inquiries and meetings are anonymous – our focus is community building, not disciplinary action. For more information about the Student Union, please visit our page on the Campolindo website. CELEBRATE VALENTINE'S DAY WITH A FAMILY DINNER from Casa Turing, Moraga’s new Cal-Mex restaurant from the owners of Town Bakery. Boxed and ready for pick up on Tuesday, February 14, you’ll enjoy 12 mouth-watering street tacos (4 carnitas, 4 steak, 4 chicken), a generous tray of 8 chicken enchiladas, and a delicious dessert. NEW: SPRING SPORTS START FEBRUARY 6 Lacrosse, B. Golf, Baseball, Track and Field, Swimming and Diving, B. Tennis, B. Volleyball, Softball ALL start on Monday February 6. UPDATE: CAMPO ATHLETICS CRAB FEED CELEBRATION IS SOLD OUT Thanks to all those who have purchased tickets to our First Annual Campo Athletics Crab Feed Celebration on February 10! The event is now sold out - but we thank you for supporting this event, and, in particular, we thank those who 'sponsored' a deserving coach or staff member by purchasing a ticket for them as well.

  • Tuesday, Jan 24: JV boys play Miramonte at 5pm, Varsity boys play Miramonte at 7pm, at Miramonte HS. Please come for this, if you can. We could always use a friendly crowd.
  • Thursday, Jan 26: Frosh/Soph boys play Bishop O’Dowd at home, at 4:30pm.
  • Frida,y Jan 27: JV boys play Pinole Valley HS, and Varsity boys play at 7pm at Pinole Valley High School.
  • Saturday, Jan 28: The Frosh/Soph boys play an away game vs Clayton Valley HS at noon.

2023 CAMPO TRACK & FIELD Winter training sessions for all track & field event groups are meeting daily after school in preparation for the upcoming spring season. Athletes not currently participating in a Campo winter sport are strongly encouraged to attend these important conditioning sessions. Athletes are also reminded that all eligibility requirements must be completed prior to February 6. Find complete Campo Track & Field details at campotrack.com.

GIRLS LACROSSE Girls lacrosse tryouts begin the week of February 6. Please help us get a general idea on a head count by completing this survey in advance of January 23.


COMING SOON The Campo Athletic Boosters is sponsoring a female strength and conditioning 'pilot' starting in January to be held in Campo's Weight Room one or two days a week for two months. Details are being finalized so look for more information coming soon - but whether your student formally plays a Campo sport or not, she is welcome to participate in this strength and conditioning pilot program.

NEW: ROUNDPIER SCRIPT WRITING COMPETITION Are you a student ready to unleash your creativity? Apply to the third annual RoundPier Scriptwriting Competition!  Teams of students are invited to enter for free to represent their school and to win cash prizes (maybe a bit of bragging rights, too...). The prize pool is $300 with the winning team's work published on RoundPier's platform. All teams will get feedback from professional scriptwriters and authors. NEW: GIRLS SOCCER TAILGATE PARTY Come on out for the girl's soccer tailgate on Friday, February 3 from 4:30-6:30pm! DEIB is co-hosting this event with Campo Parents Club and Athletic Boosters. We're playing College Park, JV game starts at 5pm, and it's senior night, so let's get a big turnout to support the players.


ATTENTION STUDENT ATHLETES INVOLVED IN WOMEN'S SPORTS! The Voice In Sport Foundation (VISF) has introduced to congress the Fair Play for Women Act that will strengthen TITLE IX through better education, stronger enforcement, and greater transparency in data and reporting. Use YOUR voice by joining the VIS Advocate Program to receive FREE advocacy training and contribute to gender equity at your school. All advocates gain access to the VOICEINSPORT platform where they can meet with experts in sports psychology, nutrition, and talk one on one with their favorite college and professional women athletes!

AAPI STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE The annual Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project (APYLP) conference provides a select group of 50 Asian and Pacific Islander seniors and juniors from public, private, and charter high schools throughout California with a unique opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of the legislative process, community leadership, and political activism. This year's APYLP conference will be held both virtually and in-person. The three virtual conference days are on March 30, 31, and April 2; the one in-person conference day will be on Saturday, April 1, in Sacramento, CA. For more information visit here. QUEER YOUTH FILMMAKING WORKSHOP Saturday, January 28 & February 4 from 10am-4pm at the Rainbow Community Center in Concord. This is a free workshop for queer youth 13-17 (18 okay if still in HS), of all filmmaking levels. RCC also plans to have a queer youth film screening. Additionally, youth who join might be able to earn a scholarship (paid by RCC) to a film intensive camp with BAVC/Reel Stories. Get all the details and register here.


PARENT EDUCATION ABOUT RACIAL CONSCIOUSNESS With Dr. Lori Watson, next session is Thursday, February 23, from 5:00-7:00pm. The Orinda School District is offering a Parent Education Event about Racial Consciousness with Dr. Lori Watson, founder and CEO of Race-Work. Dr. Watson will be leading a four-part series for parents/caregivers to explore issues of race and identity and help develop tools to speak to our children and others about this often-difficult topic. The "Parents for Racial Equity" four-part series is intended to educate and engage adult learners who wish to expand their personal knowledge and elevate their racial consciousness. Sessions will be held on the following dates; all sessions will be held in the OUSD Boardroom

DEIB GRANT PROGRAM The DEIB Grant Program is here to support you! The student committee and the DEIB Parents Club are giving $100+ dollar grants to student-led projects that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in our Campo community. This will be a collaborative process and provide real-life experiences for any future equity-minded entrepreneur. The rolling grant application will be open through February 3. Students with DEIB-focused projects should apply here

SENIOR CLASS NEWS

NEW: UCSD APPLICANTS Students who applied to UC San Diego can update their college ranking and major selections in their Applicant Portal any time before 11:59pm PT on January 31. UCSD recommends that all students who have selected a capped major as their first choice make sure they have chosen an alternate major that is not capped. 


NEW: EQUALITY SCHOLARSHIP EQuality is California's foremost program recognizing LGBT+ and ally youth for their service to the LGBT+ community. They award scholarships to graduating high school seniors, community college transfer students, and medical students. The eligibility requirements are somewhat different for each type of scholarship. EQuality is the collaborative effort of a group of individuals and organizations based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
