Red Sea Advisory #2
Dear Clients and Agents,
Further to yesterday’s advisory regarding the situation throughout the Red Sea, many vessel operators have started to announce their plans of re-routing cargo, contingency plans as well as risk analysis for shipping within the Red Sea region.
Over the course of the last 24 hours, we have had carriers announcing surcharges such as the following:
War Risk Surcharge – for cargo to / from specific locations within the Middle East.
Peak Season Surcharges – from India and Asia to USA
Contingency Surcharge – From CMA-CGM regarding USA Export shipments to Asia, Middle East, and India.
GRI – Various announcements for both export and import cargo.
General Rate Increases will be announced with 30-day notice. However, certain carriers such as CMA-CGM and others have put in clauses on their Bill Of Lading terms allowing to increase freight costs / war risk costs effective immediately in certain cases.
