December 17, 2021
Lovejoy Community,

Please accept my heartfelt holiday wishes at this very special time of year.
May you and your family experience peace, joy, and health during the holiday season and in the New Year. I continue to be grateful for your remarkable support of our precious staff and District. Our partnership is a valuable part of ensuring outstanding educational opportunities for each Lovejoy ISD student. I am excited about the opportunities that the New Year will bring for Lovejoy ISD.

I am incredibly proud of the work our teachers and staff have done to put kids first this semester. The beginning of the school year was heavy, but they made the mighty lift and tenaciously ensured our students had full and rich learning experiences. Kindergarteners made apple sauce, state titles were earned, and thousands of big and small precious moments in-between.

When Claire and Jacob were smaller, I used to chuckle often around the holidays because every time we saw something special like holiday lights or snow, they would say, “This is a Christmas Miracle, right?”. I would always laugh and answer, “Of course, it is”. As I visited campuses this past week, all I could think was, “Of course, it is”.

Wishing you and yours all of the blessings of the season.

Lovejoy Proud,

Katie Kordel

Holiday Card
Effe Sutton's exquisite artwork has been selected as Lovejoy ISD's official holiday card. Effe is an 8th grader at Willow Springs Middle School with an incredible talent for the visual arts. While Effe greatly enjoys experimenting and learning with a wide variety of media in the art studio, her absolute favorite to work with is prismacolor colored pencils. The drawing featured on this holiday card is one Effe created with prismacolor on stonehenge paper. Any time Effe Sutton is drawing outside of the studio you can find her art loving dog William by her side, a dynamic duo. Effe is excited to continue to grow as a valued part of the Lovejoy Visual Arts family and hopes to one day pursue a career in design.

Boys Basketball Recognition
The Varsity Boys Basketball team captured championship honors at the Great East Texas Shootout this past weekend by going 6-0 and defeating Royse City in the finals. For the year, your Leopards are now 14-1. District play starts Tuesday, December 21st as the Leopards take on the Princeton Panthers.
Student Nutrition: School Lunch Prices
Like many organizations, Lovejoy ISD has experienced sharp increases in supply costs. We have been fortunate that Lovejoy ISD meal prices have not been raised in 9 years, however after a long overdue review of meal prices, the decision has been made to increase meal prices by $1. This does not impact students who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and K-6 students receiving free lunch this school year because of the special 2021-2022 Federal meal program. If you have any questions or concerns with how this change will impact your family, do not hesitate to contact Mat McCarty, Director of Student Nutrition, at mat_macarty@lovejoyisd.net Free and reduced meal application forms can be accessed here
