What does it mean, and how do we offer, courses that go beyond using generally effective strategies to being anti-racist? This Institute, the largest ever with more than 70 faculty, invites us to consider the question together. We look forward to learning with everyone, and especially welcome our faculty speakers Dr. Jose Aguilar Hernandez and Dr. Sandy Kewanhaptewa-Dixon.

Faculty Day 2022 Recap

On May 12th, CAFE hosted Faculty Day, a tradition for over 25 years. After a two-year COVID hiatus, 105 faculty members enjoyed this opportunity to share a meal and each other’s company at Centerpointe Dining. “It was energizing to meet old friends and new acquaintances at the Faculty Day luncheon. It was wonderful to be able to eat together in person and the CAFE team always make us feel so welcomed.” said Paul Beardsley, Professor, Biological Sciences. Jeyoung Woo, a newer faculty member in Civil Engineering who has spent most of his CPP time on zoom said, “It’s really great to meet my colleagues out of the Zoom screen. A lot of updates for their practice/teaching and discussions for potential collaborations. Thanks!”

The End of Blackboard

Cal Poly Pomona’s contract with Blackboard ends June 30, 2023. Don’t panic, that’s 2023, not 2022! CPP will have no access to instructional and student materials in Blackboard after that date. While IT&IP will maintain legally mandated archives, they will not be able to retrieve archived materials for individuals. Therefore, faculty and staff are encouraged to retrieve any instructional materials or student work they would like to retain. Please visit CAFE’s Transitioning from Blackboard page for instructions and tutorials on how to retrieve materials.
