From Mrs. Pudelko:
Our 8th graders finished their last academic tasks today and our students gave them a great send-off! They will join together for an Epic Adventure as a class on Friday. We look forward to celebrating their accomplishments at graduation next Wednesday evening.

Thank you to all who donated for our Wildcat Walk - we exceeded our goal and students were rewarded with jean days this week! The STEM lab and library upgrades are underway and we couldn't have done this without our generous financial supporters. I can't wait to welcome our students to these new areas next fall!

Safety is always a #1 priority, but recent events have sparked additional conversations. We've reviewed safety protocols as a staff on multiple occasions as a full staff and administration team. Visitors in the building was our focus at our most recent staff meeting. During the spring former students often like to come back and visit, and we love to see them. We are asking that all student visitors come after student dismissal if they want to see their teachers, or make advance arrangements so we know to expect them. While to some this may seem extreme, our goal is to maintain a safe environment focused on learning, right up to the last day of school!

Thank you for your continued partnership - we are looking forward to a great summer! Please note, you are welcome to join us for our all school Mass and Academic Awards on Friday, June 10. Students will return to their classrooms following the Academic Awards and can be signed out from the office if you want to take them home right away. If you are not attending, dismissal will take place at 11:00 am. If your child will ride home with a friend, please email the school office so we know that we have your permission.

God bless,

Jenny
**In partnership with the Shared Time program at Brighton Area Schools, we are looking for a Spanish teacher for next year. If you are qualified to teach Spanish or know someone who is, please contact me or see our website to learn more!

We are also looking to hire an early elementary teacher. Please reach out to me if you know someone looking or share my contact information.
Noteworthy News:
  • STUDENT CHROMEBOOK CHECK-IN: Next week, students will be turning in their Chromebooks for the summer - we will be checking to make sure all devices and working properly as well as making sure each Chromebook is not physically damaged. Damages will be assessed and charged to families if it was beyond normal "wear and tear" from daily usage. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

  • NO BUSSING ON LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: There will be NO bussing available on Friday, June 10. Please make prior arrangements for transportation.

  • HOST FAMILIES NEEDED: Each year, West Catholic High School welcomes dozens of international students to experience life and learning in the United States. We invite you to be part of this adventure by opening your heart and home to serve as a host family! We are currently working to place students from Spain (semester), Germany (3 weeks), Brazil (1 month), and Argentina (1 month). We also have a number of international students studying for the entire academic year. There may be a stipend available for some programs to help offset the cost of hosting. Please contact Leann Garrison (leanngarrison@grwestcatholic.org, 616-233-5938) with any questions or if you are interested in becoming a host family.
