FEBRUARY
FEEDING OUR COMMUNITY
We doubled the square footage of our Carver Market which now gives our clients a more dignified and enjoyable shopping experience.
The additional space enables us to have more healthy and nutritious food available to the growing number of people who rely on the Carver Market each week.
We are currently serving more than 1,700 households each month.

MARCH
TACKLING FOOD INSECURITY AND POVERTY
Carver Center participated in the Westchester Poverty Symposium, sponsored by 914 Cares. It was an opportunity for individuals to come together to learn about innovative, community-driven partnerships focused on helping those in need. Our Chief Program Officer, Daniel Bonnet, was a member of a panel discussion on “Using Food Rescue to Combat Food Insecurity”. Our Retail Recovery program is collecting
high-quality food that would otherwise
go to waste from SEVEN local supermarket locations. Carver Center has rescued 77,448 lbs. of food so far in 2023. The food recovered is distributed through our Carver Market.

Half worked in our program, and the remainder worked with community partners. Pictured are students attending their first SYEP READI and financial literacy workshop.
