4-Week Anti-Racism Challenge (ARC) 

WEEK 1: January 5 - 12, 2024


This is your own personal journey. To participate, we ask that you complete at least 3 activities this week. You can use the ARC Tracking tool below to monitor your progress. Choose from of the following:



  • REGISTER TO ATTEND: Class held on January 20, 2024, “The History of Enslavement in the Archdiocese of Louisville.” This class will explore the Catholic history of enslavement in central Kentucky, highlighting the lives of Black Catholics and sharing genealogical resources for finding ancestors. Sponsored by the Daniel Rudd Africentric Formation Institute (DRAFI) in the Office of Multicultural Ministries, Archdiocese of Louisville. Saturday, January 20, 2024, 9:30 am to 2 pm.   • WATCH: “I Had To Turn My Blackness Up.” Short segment of comedians on Being Black. Comedians


  • READ/LEARN: Some Florida churches are putting their faith in action and teaching true Black history themselves due to “anti-woke" politics in the state that whitewash American history and ban books on race. Learn about Pastor Rhonda Thomas and her FIF (Faith in Florida) organization. Faith in Florida


  • LEARN:US Army Clears 110 Black Soldiers Charged in 1917 Houston Riots.” Houston Riots


  • ATTEND: The West Louisville Forum with guest speaker Dr. Michael Emerson, author of The Religion of Whiteness: How Racism Distorts Christian Faith. January 11th, at noon. St. Stephens Baptist Church in the sanctuary, 1018 S. 15th St.


  • READ/VIEW: “The Kissing Case” article and short film from The Equal Justice Initiative: The Kissing Case

  • JOIN: (Un)Known Project Book Club, led by poet, Hannah Drake. The club will read 4 books over the coming year. Only the first 15 people to sign up will be included in discussion, but an unlimited number are invited to listen in to their talk. (Un)Known Project book club
