Earth Sunday: Caring for Creation
Stewardship of God's Life-Giving Gift
Earth Day is annually celebrated worldwide on April 22, and thus we have designated this Sunday as Care of Creation Sunday, a day when we hold in prayer and give thanks for God's amazing creation and recommit ourselves to the good stewardship of that life-giving gift.

As part of that commitment, the Care of Creation Committee invites you to join them on Sunday for a screening and discussion of This Changes Everything. This movie presents portraits of communities on the front lines of climate change, from Montana's Powder River Basin to the coast of South India and beyond.

In showing how we can seize this time and transform the failed systems causing climate change into something better, the documentary lays out a hopeful path and calls us to renew our commitment to the stewardship of God's gift of creation.

fiveHousing Proposal Information Session
This Sunday, April 22 at 12:15 p.m.
In the fall of 2016, the Session and Trustees formed a committee to look into the congregation's legacy of providing--throughout its history--housing for the senior pastor of Fourth Church.

After extensive research, that committee recommended to the boards that the best, lowest-cost option for the church to continue that legacy would be to purchase a new manse.

The boards endorsed that recommendation this month and are now bringing it to the congregation for its vote.

A letter outlining the recommendation was emailed to Fourth Church members on April 11 and was followed by a mailing to members on April 12 that included the complete housing proposal.

The recommendation will be voted on by members at the congregational meeting called for Sunday, May 6 at 12:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

An information session was hosted by the Senior Pastor Housing Committee this past Sunday to provide opportunity to ask any questions not answered by the proposal. Those who still have questions but were unable to attend the April 15 session are invited to a second session this Sunday, April 22 at 12:15 p.m.

Members who are not able to attend this session either and still have questions are invited to email them to the committee

Visiting Our Sister Congregation in Havana
Our eight Cuba mission trip participants leave this coming Monday to spend a week with the First Presbyterian Church of Havana, a sister congregation of Fourth Church. Together they will continue our more-than-fifteen-year relationship between the two churches as we live into our shared faith.

While in Cuba, these travelers will learn about the historical, political, economic, and cultural context for Christian witness in that country. They will also have opportunity to share in a worship service with and explore the various ministries of First Church.

Please keep these members of Fourth Church and the members of the First Presbyterian Church of Havana in your thoughts and prayers as together they participate in the worldwide mission and ministry of the church of Jesus Christ.
