Is there a topic or biblical story you’ve always hoped would be addressed in a sermon?

If so, please share that with us by emailing it to sermons@fourthchurch.org

Then look forward to the ways in which the pastors will use these suggestions to shape their “Big Questions” sermon series in May and June!
Since 1967 the Fourth Church Day School has been teaching preschool children through play-based learning. If you know a family that would be interested in being part of our Day School family in the coming school year, please invite them to submit an application!

The application deadline for the 2019-2020 school year is this coming Thursday, February 28.

Ash Wednesday Worship
Wednesday, March 6
12:10 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

To begin our Lenten journey, we will gather for worship on Ash Wednesday. Shannon Kershner will preach at both services, which will include Communion and the opportunity to receive the imposition of ashes.

Ashes on the Way
Wednesday, March 6
7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The imposition of ashes will also be available in the Narthex and outside the Sanctuary throughout the day. This is offered for those in our community who are unable to be with us for worship but who find the ashes to be a meaningful way to mark the beginning of this season of repentance and reflection.

Lenten Devotions
Beginning Wednesday, March 6

A resource for prayer and reflection, the Lenten devotions will be available through five different means beginning on Ash Wednesday.

In print (in the church literature racks)

Path of Discipleship
Tuesdays, March 12–April 16
6:00–8:30 p.m.
Space is limited, so be sure to register soon!

A six-week Lenten series that explores and applies particular spiritual practices that can deepen our faith journey as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Have you seen the Taizé triptych or the one of ice-covered trees outside the church?

What about the snow-capped goblins outside the west Sanctuary window or the first graders at work on a Social Service Center project?

You can view them all on Instagram.
Did you miss the NBC Nightly News piece on the Good Memories Choir that meets weekly at Fourth Church?

Or the Washington Post story about this “upbeat community where people with early-stage memory loss and their care partners sing together, enjoying familiar music that they love”?

You can find links to both on our page on Facebook and on Twitter ( @FourthChicago).
This Monday, February 25 is the last day for those interested in becoming Stephen Ministers to apply for the training course that begins this spring.

An application can be downloaded from our website; Stephen Ministers will also be available during Coffee Hour this Sunday to answer questions about Stephen Ministry.

This coming Monday, February 25 is the last day to get tickets for the March 1 Gala of Hope. Tickets will be available during Coffee Hour and can be reserved online today as well.

Also at Coffee Hour and online are tickets for the Peloton bike drawing, for which the winner need not be present at the Gala (making it a perfect opportunity to support the benefit if you are unable to be there!).

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of the Fourth Church family—those who were received into Fourth Church membership this past Sunday:

Vicki Flick
Erin Green
Linda Greene
Janet Volk
Doug Whitmer

Thank you to those who have dropped off donations of snacks for guests of Fourth Church Meals Ministry!

We are still in need of individually packaged snacks to put in the bag lunches distributed to our neighbors on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Particularly needed are chips and fruit cups.

Donations—marked to the attention of “Meals Ministry”—can be dropped off at the church reception desk or shipped directly to the church (Fourth Presbyterian Church, c/o Meals Ministry, 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago, IL 60611.2014).
