Family Fun at the New Skating Ribbon
It's time once again for one of our favorite January family activities: ice skating after church!

This year we're going to try out the new Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park. All families are invited to meet us there this Sunday, January 22 after the 11:00 a.m. Sunday School hour concludes.

Admission is free, but plan to bring your own skates if you can, as skate rentals are $14.

There's also a park area nearby, so non-skaters should have plenty to do as well on this fun Sunday afternoon outing.

Time:
    Sunday, January 22
    12:30 p.m.

Place:

Making a Difference. Changing Lives.
One of the ways that we, as a congregation, live out our call to be a light in the city is through the work of Fourth Church's nonprofit community outreach organization , Chicago Lights.

Through supportive relationships and diverse programs, Chicago Lights provides hope and opportunity to Chicago's children, youth, and adults facing the challenges of poverty. It is your support of this Fourth Church mission arm that makes this possible, through the work of the
Chicago Lights Dance Academy, Elam Davies Social Service Center, Summer Day, Tutoring, and Urban Farm.

This Sunday morning come learn about each of these programs! Chicago Lights staff will be available during Coffee Hour to talk about what they do.

There will also be opportunity to show your support of Chicago Lights by taking advantage of early-bird ticket sales for Gala of Hope!

Make plans now to join us for a fun-filled gala evening on Friday, February 24, when we'll enjoy a sit-down dinner and dessert, dance to the music of a live orchestra, and take part in live and silent auctions--all while enjoying the fellowship of Fourth Church friends and supporting our commitment to serve our neighbors in need through the work of Chicago Lights and the Replogle Center for Counseling and Well-Being.

A Social and Philanthropic Opportunity for Women
Women, do you find yourselves without a lot of free time but keen to identify a way to give back? If so, join us for a Hope4All coffee reception this Sunday morning.

Hope4All is a group of women who have come together to energize and inspire others to support Chicago Lights in its work to meet the needs of children, youth, and adults facing the challenges of poverty in our city.

The group invites you to stop by the Morse Lounge (next to the reception desk) between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. this Sunday to learn how your giving and support of Chicago Lights can also lead to a deeper connection with a passionate group of philanthropic women.

fourKnitting and Crocheting
Sharing Your Talents
Do you knit or crochet?

Our Knitting and Crocheting group could use your talents!

This active group of women knits and crochets items for those in need (items such as hats and scarves for adults and children, children's pajamas and clothes, baby booties and crib caps, lap robes, and more).

The group meets at Fourth Church on the fourth Tuesday of the month, September through June, for a time of fellowship, to drop off items they have completed, and to pick up yarn and material for new projects. Items are then donated to children and families in shelters, hospitals, and nursing homes.

Designed to accommodate individuals' own schedules, the monthly gatherings allow participants to drop in for as much or as little of the time together as they'd like.

For more information about this opportunity to create for those in need, contact Anne Ellis.

Time:
    Tuesday, January 24
    4:00-6:00 p.m.

Place:

fiveA Family Overnight at the Church
A Lock-In for Children and Their Parents
Families, have you ever been curious about what it would be like to spend the night at the church? On Friday, February 3, for the first time ever, we're inviting families to be part of a huge sleepover here!

We'll start the evening with pizza, some get-to-know-you games, scavenger hunts throughout the campus, and a whole lot more! When it's time for bed, you and your family will be paired up with another family or two in a "cabin" (one of the classrooms on the fourth or fifth floor). In the morning we'll share breakfast before heading home.

For details, contact Briana Belding-Peck or Matt Helms.
