Gobble Gobble!
Before the Thanksgiving holiday, our little friends gathered for an annual Goshen tradition, the Friendship Feast. With a nod to “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” we gathered together to enjoy a snack of our favorite sweet and salty treats. We loved seeing friends from other classes for the gatherings, which were held in three sessions. Thank you to our parents for providing the snacks and applesauce for the events!

From the Head of School
Dear Goshen Families,

I hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! I have enjoyed hearing the children’s stories from home, of delicious meals and fun with family and friends. Some of you have already put up a tree or strung some lights. Very exciting!

By now, you have hopefully received our Annual Report and appeal letter. I wanted to take a moment to thank you in advance for making a gift to the school. Because tuition alone does not cover all of our costs, we truly rely on your contributions to continue our mission for joyful learning. No gift is too small! To donate online, click here.

Thank you for thinking of Goshen during this holiday season!

In Friendship,
Mimi
Sick Policy Reminder
It’s December, which means cold and flu season is here! Please help us in our ongoing efforts to protect the health of our students, staff and families by keeping your child home if he or she is not feeling well. Please note the following:

  • If you are keeping your child home due to illness, please notify the office at (610) 696-8869. If you reach our voice mail, please leave a detailed message including your child’s symptoms and your daytime phone number.

  • Depending on your child’s symptoms and possible exposure, the school may require a PCR or antigen test to rule out Covid-19. To determine when your child can return, the school will follow Chester County Health Department’s recommendations for responding to Covid-19 in schools.

  • In the event of other illnesses, your child may return to school if he is fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication, shows improvement in symptoms, does not have a fresh cold or virus, and is generally comfortable being at school while wearing a mask.

To review our complete Health and Safety procedures, please visit our website.

We would like to take a moment to thank parents for their cooperation and understanding around our sick policy this year, which often requires us to rule out Covid-19. We appreciate your patience!

Holiday Singalongs

The children have been busy practicing their holiday songs and are looking forward to sharing them with you through the magic of video! Singalongs will be filmed and posted on our Vimeo channel on or about December 20. While not the live performance of pre-Covid years, we think you and your families will enjoy seeing your little ones perform a few holiday favorites!

Optimistically looking forward to a return to live concerts in the spring, under sunny skies and warm spring temperatures!
Goshen Giving

Goshen Friends School is happy to announce that we will once again collect winter gear for residents of Devereux’s Leo Kanner Learning Center in West Chester. We are inviting Goshen families and friends to join us in collecting new adult sized hats, gloves and mittens for men and women. You can send your donations into school by car line or backpack beginning Monday, December 6. Goshen staff will deliver the items to Devereux Christmas week.

Goshen has supported Devereux through various programs over the years. After taking 2020 off, we are glad to be able to once again support the Devereux community, which provides high-quality residential and special education services to more than 300 children and adolescents ages 6 to 21 with mental disabilities. Many of these residents have no
families and rely on the generosity of the community
to help make the holidays special.

Look for more information coming out later this weekend!
From the GPC

Hello Goshen Parents!

I hope everyone had such a fantastic Thanksgiving and a joyous few days off!

We have lots going on this week! This is our Biggest Fundraising Fun Week of the year!
  • MonkeyFish Toys! Our favorite local toy store! By far one of the best places to find so many hidden gems that you will not find at other stores! Start your holiday shopping, or grab last minute stocking stuffers, they have it all. Now through Sunday, December 5, you will receive 10% off your purchase and Goshen Friends gets 10% of the proceeds. Show this flyer at checkout.
  • Tomorrow (Thursday, December 2) we have restaurant night at Brothers Pizza – another personal local fav place of mine! Dine in, or take out all day long, from 11 am to 8 pm! Show this flyer at checkout.

So make Thursday Funday! Head to MonkeyFish with the kiddos for some fun, then just walk a couple stores down and grab lunch or dinner at Brothers Pizza…Sounds like the Best Day Ever to me!

Thank you to all of you who ordered pies, donuts and cider from Highland Orchards! I cannot believe I didn’t snag a photo of How Much Stuff there was at pick up! Let’s just say, it took two massive trucks, filled to the max to get here. I am beyond grateful to my amazing little helpers who put so much time and effort into helping sort and deliver all of it. I never could have made this happen without Julie Arthur, Kristy Stevens, Andi Zampelli and Katie Fahey.

Finally, join us for our next GPC meeting, next Tuesday night December 7 at 8pm.
Come one, come all, let’s ring in some cheer everyone! You all are wonderful, so let’s have some fun! The meeting link is below:

Registration will open for Goshen families only on Monday, December 13. Our summer camp is very popular and fills up really fast, so take advantage of this early opportunity to enroll your child before we open registration for the greater community on January 10. Be on the lookout before winter break for more details!

Extended Care

Now that your little one is happily ensconced in a preschool routine, why not extend her day with a little Lunch Bunch and fun after school? Your child can socialize with children from other classes, enjoy pizza on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and make special crafts on Mondays and Thursdays – all while you get a little extra time on your end!

Sign up for late afternoon care on Mondays and Thursdays in December, and your child gets to create a special holiday craft!

As always, we appreciate as much advance notice as possible!

Thank you!
