GU Public Health Updates
In a message to the Georgetown community, President DeGioia announced a return to in-person learning as planned on January 31.
All Medical Center faculty members are expected to shift their teaching to on-campus, in-person instruction beginning January 31. Faculty members who believe they may have experienced recent extraordinary circumstances can request permission to teach remotely for a limited time. Read more about how to request an exemption for in-person teaching (due by 5:00 p.m on January 25) in this message from EVP Edward Healton.
Temporary limits on campus events, gatherings and meetings remain through January 30.
  • For the next week, all university events must be held virtually or outdoors, with limited exceptions explicitly approved by university leadership.
  • We encourage any meeting that includes Georgetown students, faculty or staff to be held virtually. Meetings may also be held outside or in one of the tents on the main campus so long as six feet of distance is maintained, masks are worn at all times and there is no eating or drinking.

Expect additional guidance and information this week about in-person activities including events and meetings.
High-Quality Masks Available On Campus
Free high-quality masks are available at most building entrances on campus. Faculty and staff with a specific need for more masks beyond individual use for the day should use the online COVID supplies ordering form to obtain these rather than taking multiple masks from the building entrances.
If you see empty or near-empty mask supplies at building entrances on campus, please contact Facilities Work Management at (202) 687-3432.
Full-time faculty, staff and AAPs may apply for COVID-19 Dependent Care Assistance Grants to defray dependent care expenses incurred as a direct result of the pandemic for the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters. Learn more and apply here.
Georgetown University has partnered with Bright Horizons to provide our benefits-eligible, full-time faculty and staff with up to seven days of high-quality center-based or in-home back-up care for your child, adult or elder relative at no cost to you each year. Learn more about Bright Horizons Back-Up Care and Family Services.
Georgetown’s values shape and mold us into the fullest version of ourselves, poised to make an impact for good wherever we are – on-campus, in our DC community, in the communities we hold dear, on the international stage. The Spirit of Georgetown celebrates the values that bind us!
