Call for Judges: 2022 National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court

The National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition, hosted March 2-5 by WVU Law, is seeking volunteer judges. The competition is being held online. Early round judges must be attorneys of good standing licensed to practice law in any state. Now in its 12th year, the National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition attracts exceptional law students from across the country. This year, 40 teams from 30 law schools are registered to compete. To volunteer or ask questions, please email wvumoot@mail.wvu.edu. The deadline to volunteer is 3:00 p.m. on March 1, 2022.
The problem is posted on the competition website.
Interest in Creation of and Participation in
a State Bar LGBTQ Committee
The State Bar recently received a request to form a LGBTQ committee to focus on important legal issues of the LGBTA community and issues that LGBTQ lawyers are facing. The State Bar does not have specific criteria for forming a committee. Committees are formed when there is sufficient interest in an issue, bar members are willing to take a leadership role in the committee, and bar members are willing to actively participate on the committee. To be a member of the LGBTQ committee, you do not have to self-identify as LGBTQ. You do need to have an interest in LGBTQ issues. All Bar committees have limitations, are not advocacy groups, and are not permitted to lobby for a specific interest.

To help evaluate interest in creating a LGBTQ committee, please let the State Bar know if you are:

  1. Interested in participating in a LGBTQ committee?
  2. Willing to serve as a member of the committee?
  3. Willing to serve in a leadership capacity?

Please respond to State Bar President, Tom Scarr, at tes@jenkinsfenstermaker.com by noon on Friday, February 25, 2022.
Member Photography Display
The State Bar is pleased to announce the exhibition of photography work of State Bar Member D.C. Offutt. Mr. Offutt's photography is available for viewing at the State Bar Center.
