2023 Physician Business Leadership Certificate Program
Now Accepting Applications
IHA, the Iowa Medical Society, the Iowa Healthcare Collaborative, and the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians have come together again to launch the 2023 cohort of the Physician Business Leadership Certificate Program. The curriculum will again focus on these three domains:
  • Foundational Leadership Skills
  • Equipping for Health Care Today
  • Hot Topics for Providers

Enhancements to the program include sessions on decision-making processes, learning the language of health care finance and developing tools to assist in the business side of health care, viewing health care from a social determinant or community health lens, and exploring strategic planning project tools and how they can assist quality initiatives. Participants also have the opportunity to take part in multiple post-event executive coaching options.

Drs. Laura Bowshier, Tom Marquardt, Tim McCoy, and Bryon Schaeffer, all past graduates, will once again serve as program faculty and provide context to connect the topics and issues to Iowa physician leaders.

The education session dates are:
  • February 7, presented in person at the Iowa Hospital Association.
  • March 7, presented virtually (optional DiSC assessment).
  • April 11, presented in person at the Iowa Hospital Association.
  • June 6, presented in person at the Iowa Hospital Association.

Education for Family Physicians:
MAT Waiver Training Dates and Registration

This course is designed for current and future health care providers. Health care professionals in practice and students may complete the training and the training does not expire. Health care professionals who already have their license and DEA number can proceed to obtain their x-waiver immediately after completing the training. Students must wait until they graduate to receive their license and DEA number and then are eligible to apply for their X-waiver.

The Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) sponsored MAT Waiver Training will provide health care providers with the opportunity to apply education from the training to their practice to treat opioid use disorders. The training is split into two parts: a 4.25-hour (in person or virtual) live session and an online self-study portion.
