A JOURNEY OF FAITH – LESSON 4
We have seen how God had a big plan for Abram, later re-named Abraham. We see how by faith he journeyed across God’s chosen path. He had no idea just how it would land and work out. He only knew that God would bless him for his obedience and faith to diligently seek and follow Him.
How does that apply to you? God told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 that he had plans for him even before he was planted as a seed in his mother’s womb. This tells us that God has plans and a destiny for each of us while our spirits are still in heaven. It is written in the books of heaven. God knew you before you were pro-created.
How do we ascertain His plan? Do you know His purpose for you? Have you learned it from His written word, or from what Holy Spirit puts in your heart?
One way of learning it may be found in what interests you. Another way is by what gift or talent He has endowed you with.
God has given everyone some kind of ability. What matters is what we do with it. Generally speaking, that occurs in three basic ways.
1. We ignore it. We do not use it.
2. We use it for our own personal purposes or to please or benefit other people.
3. We use it for the glory of God and in service to Him and His people.
Choice number two is very common. Consider a gifted professional singer. God gave them that gift of a great singing voice. Many of them sing secular music, perhaps rock, blues, country, etc. They may become very successful, but God gets no glory from it. They have chosen a route that benefits themselves and they get the glory for it.
Many gifts or talents are hidden because the person does not even realize their god-given gift, their individual niche in life. The gifts come in many forms, often not even realized.
Do you know how God has gifted you? If so, consider using it on a journey to pursue God’s endgame for you.
It is your journey of faith. Follow the Lord’s leading with it.
