Message from Pastor Carolyn

Friday, December 15, 2023

Dear Saint Mark Family,

I pray you are continuing to live a blessed and holy Advent, and have been intentional throughout this week to “tell” the good news of God’s love to others by your actions.

On Sunday you received the Making My Mark” brochure in your bulletins, along with the commitment cards. It is to highlight our giving campaign for our 2024 ministry financial commitment. As I shared with you, we are able to worship and praise God in our beautiful chapel and sanctuary Sunday after Sunday because of your generosity. We are able to do so many ministries within our congregation and beyond the walls of our church because you have chosen to give. We are impacting and transforming lives week after week because of your kindness. The doors of Saint Mark are open, and we are growing more and more as disciples of Jesus Christ, and others are growing in the knowledge of Christ because you give.

The finance committee and I are asking you to consider prayerfully the amount you are led by the Spirit to give to the life and ministry of your church for 2024, and to complete the cards and turn them in by this Sunday. We also encourage you to take a step of faith and increase your giving by an additional ten percent (10%) over what you have given this year. If you had committed to give $1000 this 2023 year, by faith increase it to $1,100 for 2024. I am confident that God will honor your faith and generosity.

You can also complete the commitment card online, or contact Deana Hilton at our office, by phone 404-873-2636, or email at dhilton@stmarkumc.org to let her know your commitment.

On generosity, this past Monday night, Sentimental Journey Orchestra, under the leadership of our own Amy Holloway, held an amazing concert in the sanctuary. It was such a wonderful time of great music and great attendance. We had neighbors from the community, along with residents from The Hadley - the new apartment complex behind us, who attended. It was truly a wonderful evening to remember. Thanks to Amy for making it happen.

This Sunday we will have our Festival of Lessons and Carols at the 11am service. It will be a wonderful time of worshiping God, as we hear our choir sing the beloved songs of the season and read Scripture lessons. I encourage you to invite your family and friends, come out and let us worship together.

Finally, I want to remind you that our Christmas Eve services will be our Communion Worship Service at 11am, Family Service at 5pm, Lessons and Congregational Singing at 7pm, and Communion Service at 11pm. Rev. Jimmy Moor will be participating in leading at the 11pm service. Invite a friend, take the whole family, come out and let us celebrate the birth of our Lord.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday.

God’s peace,

Pastor Carolyn.
