Potential

God just isn’t finished with any of us yet! I am convinced that we have unclaimed potential just waiting to be uncovered and recognized.

I can’t claim yours and can’t even claim mine, but God has a plan for each of us that he is or will use for his glory and unto his kingdom.

“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” – Proverbs 19:21.

“Everyone is talented at something. We were all given gifts and talents that we can use to find our purpose in life and to help and inspire others. God is the one who gave you your talents, and he gave them to you for a reason. He knows the potential that you have and knows that you are capable of great things. Trust in him and let him lead you. Follow him and he will guide you to help you find your purpose.” Kennedy Lane 2019

I often times pray and ask God: “what next” and when the answers aren’t clear, I take that as “just do what you are doing and keep watch everyday for a way to be used to encourage someone or listen or pray for situations that are beyond my understanding etc.We all have the potential each day to lean on God and pray for his direction. God will guide you and I if we only will submit to his ways.He calls us to love others. And be kind and forgiving...and he has given us the potential to do just that. But do we? Do I?

I am called to be patient, and to remember that it is not the big things that so often matter as the little ones which  many times  we have no idea are making a difference in someone’s life. “God knows what he is doing. Everything happens on his timing and not our own.” Potential is within all but how often do we smother it, or we are too lazy to tap into it or we follow the line of least resistance and ignore it.

Potential is:

Capable of being but not yet in existence; latent or undeveloped,

Purpose is:

an abiding intention to achieve a long-term goal that is both personally meaningful and makes a positive mark on the world.

We all have an idea of how we want our lives to turn out and what we want to do in the future, but our plans may not line up with God’s plans. We often have a difficult time trusting him because we are afraid of the unknown. We never know what he has planned for us and we are afraid that whatever it is, might land us in an uncomfortable and uneasy situation.  BUT

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). So we have to really trust God as we journey along each day.

Beware, If we try something new and it turns into a flop or a great disappointment, it can be really painful and discouraging.  But we can’t sidestep a risk just because we are unsure of the outcome.  Potential is something I believe that God has freely given us and continues to build in us each day.

“Whenever we fail at something or get turned down, we tend to get discouraged. We start to give up on ourselves. Instead of giving up and feeling like a failure whenever something does not go the way that you want it to, take that as a lesson to be learned. And keep telling yourself that your potential is there...

Learn from the things that do not work out and figure out what you can do differently or how you can better prepare yourself for the future. God uses every situation in our lives for good. Even when we do not realize it, he is working in our favor, everything happens for a reason, even when we have no idea what that reason is, it will always work out for the better. Trust God and what he is doing in your life. He will not disappoint.

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3 ESV

God is not making you wait just for fun. He has a plan, and he will see it through when the time is right. God’s timing is always perfect. We stress about things working out and constantly wonder how much potential do we really have and what purpose does God has for us... but things will come together, and it will be in God’s timing.

Have patience and trust in who God has made you to be and in what he is putting in your path for you to accomplish.  For you have potential, more than you can imagine, and it will be poured out as God directs your decisions  and you allow him to use you for HIS purposes, and his glory.

Praise God wherever you are and whatever situation He has allowed you to be in . . . His glory will shine through!
