Hello and welcome to the Community First Choice (CFC) Newsletter - a newsletter with timely content on important updates and information related to the CFC 1915(k) Option in Colorado for CFC stakeholders.

October Meeting Announcement

Community First Choice (CFC) Council Meeting


The CFC Council collaborates with and advises the Department on the design and implementation of a CFC option in Colorado. The CFC Council consists primarily of individuals with disabilities, those 65 years or older and their representatives to helpensure CFC is implemented in a way that best meets the needs of Coloradans with disabilities. All interested stakeholders are welcome.


CFC Council meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., through May 2023. These meetings are open to the public.

CFC Listening Sessions


Purpose: CFC Listening Sessions are informal opportunities for stakeholders to learn more about CFC by asking questions, sharing experiences and talking with Department staff. No new policy or technical processes will be announced during these listening sessions; however, these are great opportunities to speak with the Department about questions or ideas you have around CFC. Any new information discussed during listening sessions will be discussed in the CFC Council meeting and published on the CFC Stakeholder Opportunities webpage.


All interested stakeholders and the public are welcome to attend.

CFC Draft Timeline


CFC is a complex program to implement and to assist stakeholders with understanding the different factors that impact CFC, the Department has released a CFC Draft Timeline (see also the text only versions available in both English and Spanish).




CFC Volunteer Opportunities


The Department is interested in working together with CFC stakeholders to improve community partnerships and diversify stakeholder input by building community resources by and for CFC stakeholders.


The Department is primarily interested in coordinating initiatives that involve or help with:


  • Building community resources to raise awareness around CFC


  • Engaging new stakeholders and those who do not traditionally participate in Department stakeholder opportunities


  • Improving the equity, diversity, and inclusion of stakeholder engagement opportunities


  • Improving CFC stakeholder satisfaction, knowledge or ability to participate with CFC Council meetings


  • Improving Department communications
