Happy Holidays!
City offices are closed Thursday, December 23, through Sunday, January 2, 2022, for the City’s annual furlough. City Hall will reopen for regular business hours on Monday, January 3, 2022. All emergency and essential City services will still be available.
There are many ways to celebrate the holiday season! In addition to Christmas and the New Year, you can observe the Winter Solstice on December 21, Kwanzaa, which starts on December 26, and Call a Friend Day on December 28, providing a great way to reconnect or stay connected to those who are important to you. Staying engaged with those you care about is recommended to ward off stress and help bring about joy and resilience.
The City’s Recreation facilities also have schedule variations to note:
- Centennial Recreation Center - Closing at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- Aquatics Center - Closing at 1:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
- Senior Center - Closed December 23 through Christmas Day and on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
- Community Cultural Center - Closed December 23 through January 1, except for pre-scheduled, private rentals.
Enjoy the holidays safely! As the weather gets colder, we want to remind our community members to sign up for AlertSCC, the County’s emergency alert, and notification system.

Cold Weather Preparations

During the winter season, it’s important to remember that flooding can happen anytime it rains.
The extreme drought conditions that Santa Clara County has endured over the last year have hardened the ground. This hardening can increase run-off to streams and creeks during the first few days of heavy rain, elevating the risk of flooding.
