Weekly eNews
Dear St. Giles Families,

I am not one to back down from a challenge due to a little inclement weather! Last week I spent Thursday on the roof to reward the hard work of all of our Lions and your hard work as families for surpassing our goal of raising $90,000 through Lion’s Leap. While the weather was cold and a little rainy, the spirits were high and I had a lot of visitors throughout the day. What a wonderful way to celebrate all the efforts and commitment everyone has to St. Giles. This week I have lunch scheduled with our top fundraising homeroom, Miss Voss’s 4th grade classroom.
It was great to have parents back in the building for conferences and we are happy that we can meet multiple needs with both in-person and virtual conferences. As we move toward the close of Trimester 1 (time is flying!), please continue to monitor your Lion’s progress in PowerSchool and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns.

This week we bring back our Halloween celebration on Friday. Please review the reminders regarding costumes, etc. below. PreK room parents are collaborating with our PreK team for their morning celebration in the Gleeson building. K-8 Room parents are working hard behind the scenes to provide a fun afternoon for each of their classes. Please join us for the parade on Friday at 1:45 where our K-8 Lions will walk around the block to show off their costumes. Room parties will begin at 2:00 and we have a regular dismissal at 3:10. We are also hopeful for good weather for our 7th and 8th graders who will enjoy Beetlejuice at our first outdoor movie night at 6:30 pm!

Have a wonderful week!
Stay safe,
Meg

Photo Retakes

Photo retakes for those who were absent or would like the opportunity to take a new photo will be on Wednesday, October 27th.
Your children had the day off on Friday due to teachers being in conferences.  Were you able to spend a few minutes with your child in a low stress activity?  Spending time with your child does not have to be an all day outing to a museum or jumping place.  A low stress activity can be cooking together or coloring together or throwing a ball around or looking up jokes to tell each other or taking a fall walk to admire the gradual change of leaves.  The idea is to spend a short amount of time together being fully present, building positive time in your relationship.  These moments help create positive memories when your child needs help calming down to face a problem.  According to gozen.com, the number one thing kids want when they are stressed is their parents.  They want their parents to spend quality time with them, cheer them up or help them problem-solve.
St. Giles Community:

Please help the St. Giles School 8th graders in their fundraising efforts by buying POPCORN from their "virtual popcorn stand". The fundraiser went live on Thursday and will end at 7:00pm on tomorrow, Monday the 25th. It is only a quick four day event, so please order now!

Visit the online pop-up shop here or contact any 8th grader to purchase directly from them:  St. Giles 8th Grade Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser

Shop for yourself, or your family and friends! You can purchase packages of 3-10 types of popcorn under "Shop Curated Collections" or select "Shop All Flavors" and buy exactly the flavors that you want. This popcorn is a great snack to put out when you have friends over or to give as a gift. There are a dozen delicious flavors to choose from. Popcorn will be delivered 4-6 weeks after the sale.

An amazing 50% of the net sales will be returned to St. Giles and will go toward the 8th graders' activities, including the production of the 8th grade play this winter. Our goal is to collectively raise $1000. Thank you in advance for your support!
