Discover Haverford and Haverford Township Create Matching Facade Grant Program

Does the outside of your business need some work? Do you need a higher quality sign to attract customers? Do you want to replace windows or doors? Would you like to add plantings or window boxes? Now is a great time to start thinking about it!

Discover Haverford is partnering with Haverford Township to sponsor a Matching Façade Grant Program (using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act). We plan to email detailed guidelines about the Matching Façade Grant Program next week.

HPED is now rebranded as Discover Haverford

HPED has changed our name to Discover Haverford, which we feel better reflects our mission, includes a call to action, and is easier to remember. We will still legally be HPED, "doing business as Discover Haverford," but will primarily be using the name Discover Haverford for our work.

Discover Haverford Welcomes SideBird

With a larger-than-life personality to match his larger-than-life food, celebrity chef Brian Duffy opened SideBird Restaurant in Havertown in November 2021, and the community has welcomed him with open arms and hungry bellies! Chef, Restaurant Owner, Consultant, On-Air Personality -- Duffy does it all. You have probably seen his face featured on HGTV, Food Network, Spike TV, Bar Rescue, NBC, The Today Show and more. Brian’s consulting business, Duffified Experience Group, works with restaurants across the country to “redefine the economics of food service,” creating their menus and coaching them through some much-needed facelifts.

Plastic Bag & Straw Ordinance to be Considered

The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners is considering an ordinance with the goal to reduce plastic pollution through the promotion of reusable, compostable, and recyclable materials within the Township. The language proposes a ban on the distribution of single-use plastic bags and a small fee on paper bags. It also limits the distribution of single-use plastic straws to individuals who request them. The proposed ordinance is expected to have a first reading at the March 14, 2022 Board of Commissioners meeting. Contact your Township Commissioner if you have any questions or input.

Discover Haverford Welcomes New Project Coordinator

Discover Haverford is pleased to welcome Cindi Rooney as our second Project Coordinator. Cindi will work 12 hours per week, assisting with office management, greening projects, event coordination, volunteer and sponsor recruitment, and marketing. Cindi has notable event planning and fundraising experience with Haverford Music Festival and Kelly Music for Life. She and her husband also owned their own restaurant in Ridley Park for five years. She raised her son in Haverford Township and has been active in supporting his hockey team.

HPED Honored by the Delco Chamber of Commerce

Thanks to the Delco Chamber of Commerce for honoring HPED as Business Association of the Year at their annual awards dinner in November!
