IAM UPDATE
November 2021
IAM's Holiday Food Drive in Full Swing!
IAM's annual Holiday Food Drive continues until December 10th. Please help us collect a variety of traditional holiday foods to be distributed to our neighbors in need during the holiday season in November and December

Your holiday food donations allow IAM to provide local residents facing a short-term or long-term financial crisis with all of the ingredients they need to prepare a special holiday meal in their own homes for either Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Your donations help turn the stress of the holidays into joy for hundreds of local families with children and senior citizens who otherwise would not get to enjoy a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at home. Each household gets to choose a turkey or ham. Small to medium turkeys (8-14 lbs.) are best and hams can be fresh or canned hams.

Donations will be accepted through December 10th on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call IAM at 828-697-7029 to arrange the pick-up of large donations

Thank you for sharing the joy of the season with our neighbors who struggle so hard to make ends meet every day of the year.
Help IAM Help Our Neighbors...
Henderson County has a long tradition of compassionate response to our neighbors in need. When others fall, we offer a hand up. When others despair, we open our hearts. We shine a light of hope and a new path forward. The past 18 months have challenged our community like never before. The services provided by IAM have never been more critical.

Please join IAM in this important mission with your financial contribution. Join the thousands of your neighbors who see the need in our community to work together and respond collectively with, "I Am IAM!"

Thank you for being a vital part of the solution!

IAM's Clothing Needs for November
Thank You
Trinity Presbyterian!
We are profoundly thankful to the membership of Trinity Presbyterian Church that recently donated $24,865 to IAM!

Trinity's Local Missions Ministry designated IAM as the recipient of this special donation and the church offered to match member donations dollar for dollar.

Shown presenting their amazingly generous gift of love and compassion for all our neighbors in need is Diane Bowers, Finance Chair and an Elder at Trinity, with Elizabeth Willson Moss, Executive Director of IAM. Diane explained the inspiration for Trinity's gift. "We've always been strong supporters of IAM. We appreciate the level of need in crisis ministry and know that our donations are helping people in tangible ways immediately."

Thank you, Trinity Presbyterian!

Wanted: Thrift Store Volunteers!
IAM is blessed with wonderful volunteers and, as we prepare to launch our new IAM Thrift Store in early 2022, we are looking for new volunteers to help us staff this new exciting operation!

Thrift Store Volunteers:

When operations begin, we will need volunteers to serve as check-out cashiers, pricers and sorters. We are excited about the potential of the new store and would love to discuss this opportunity with interested persons.

Welcome Feliciano Botello!
IAM is excited to welcome Feliciano Botello to our staff as a Bilingual Associate. He will work primarily with our Social Services Department assisting the staff during the Intake process as we determine the best ways to help our neighbors in need. His Spanish language skills will further assist IAM when helping neighbors with limited English capabilities.

Feliciano previously worked in a similar capacity for Immaculate Conception Church in Hendersonville and he is excited to continue the work he loves - helping people navigate difficult personal and financial situations. "I am thrilled to be here," says Feliciano. "I see the difference IAM makes in people's lives. It's an opportunity to serve the Lord by serving others."

Feliciano grew up in Henderson County and is married with four children ages 10, 7, 4, and 2. Welcome, Feliciano!
IAM Featured on WLOS
IAM was featured last month on WLOS 13 News in their "Persons of the Week" segment as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. The segment featured interviews with Belem Solano, IAM's Latino Outreach Coordinator, and José Alonso, Pastor En
Español at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.

We are proud of all our staff and volunteers who make sure that our Latino neighbors feel understood and welcomed when they arrive at IAM for assistance.

Thank You, Darla!
IAM extends a heartfelt "Thank You" to Darla Lindeman who served as IAM's Administrator for the past two years. Darla, who recently became a grandmother, will step back from her duties at IAM to have a more flexible work schedule and spend more time with family.

Leaving is bittersweet for Darla and she will miss her friends at IAM. "I believe in the mission of IAM and I’ve really enjoyed being part of an organization that does so much good in the community," says Darla. "It is such meaningful work and I feel fortunate that I have been part of helping so many people in the community."

Darla will continue to work for IAM on a contract basis at least through the end of the year. If you have questions about financial donations, bequests or gifts of stock, please contact Elizabeth Willson Moss at
elizabethmoss@iam-hc.org.

Thanks for everything, Darla, and best wishes for the future!
