From the CEO's Desk

Winter has arrived this week, and while Brantford-Brant has been spared the snow of our neighbours, the cold, and the respiratory health issues, are very real challenges.

Staff are completing final preparations for our 16th Annual Wine, Women, and Shopping event on Wednesday, a sold out event promising laughs, inspiration, and entertainment from keynote speaker entrepreneur Julie Cole, and local favourite Shawn Mulrain.

A final ask for five minutes of your time to complete the Ontario Economic Survey from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, below. This will help to inform the advocacy agenda of the OCC to the province for 2023.

The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie has the Quality of Life survey it will be finalizing over the next few weeks as well. It is well worth the time to assist in gathering more localized data for labour planning needs.

Thank you, and look forward to seeing you soon,

Dave

Take the Quality of Work Survey!

The Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie (WPBGE) is conducting a survey to better understand quality of work in our area.

The survey is open to anyone, aged 15+, living in Brantford, Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk, Six Nations and New Credit, who is either working or looking for work.

They want to understand how you perceive your Quality of Work. Quality of Work refers to things like a job's income and benefits, job security, chance for promotion, opportunities to use your skills, workplace culture, and more.

Radon Survey of Workplaces in Ontario

This project investigates the levels of radon in a variety of Ontario workplaces, including public buildings and small to medium-sized businesses. The main objective of this study is to collect data to assess where hazardous levels of radon are present in Ontario workplaces in order to target prevention efforts.

Radon is a naturally-occurring radioactive gas formed by the breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water. It is invisible and detected only by radon measurement devices and can accumulate to high levels in enclosed spaces. Radon is responsible for approximately 13% of lung cancer deaths in Ontario and is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. The World Health Organization recommends that radon exposure remain below 100 Bq/m3, while the Health Canada Guideline is 200 Bq/m3.

If you would like more information or are interested in participating in the study, please contact Lily Yang (lily.yang@ontariohealth.ca) or fill this eligibility survey and they will be in touch.
