Hello Friends!
It's hard to believe that we're already six weeks into the new year! I hope you and your loved ones are well and enjoying the winter season.
Following the holiday break I've been feeling renewed and optimistic for a brighter future, and I see this feeling in those around me as well.
This newsletter is a goldmine of news! Check out our spotlight on staff member Bobbie P., get our latest event updates, and see who's donated recently.
I'm also very excited to share that HERS is now registered with fundraising platform RoundUp. I signed up and chose HERS as my beneficiary nonprofit and in just 5 short weeks I've donated nearly $50 of "rounded up" change from my personal card transactions. Keep reading to find out how the platform works and how you can join me in "rounding up" for HERS!
To all of our friends, family, patients, donors, and volunteers, I wish you good health in the remaining weeks of winter. Spring is just around the corner -- another bright spot on the horizon.

Celebrating In Person
This gorgeous venue features a spacious brick patio, a glamorously appointed ballroom, and gourmet dishes prepared by Jeff Schulz, Casa Bella's very talented chef.

A Fun and Festive Evening
HERS friend and supporter Heather Holmes of KTVU FOX 2 News will serve as our gracious host and, along with the upbeat energy of auction pro Zan Aufderheide, both will keep us entertained!
Our evening will kick off with a patio cocktail reception plus fundraising games, the opportunity to bid on enticing silent auction items, and a preview of our live auction offerings.
At 7 pm we'll gather in the ballroom for a seated dinner which includes wine, a special patient presentation, our live auction and fund-a-need, and our awards presentation (see below for our HERS Awardees!).
Health and Safety Measures
The safety of all guests, particularly those who are patients, is very important to HERS. Proof of vaccination will be required at check-in and masks should be worn when not actively eating or drinking (masks will be available -- and yes, they're pink!). Dining tables will be generously spaced, hand sanitizing stations will be positioned throughout the venue, and medical-grade air purifiers will help keep the ballroom environment cleaner.

Each will enjoy their spotlight moment as they're presented with their award. We cannot wait to share why they were chosen and what drives each of them to give back to survivors.

OHAPD Gives Back via the #PinkPatchProject
|
|
|
|
Since then, OAHPD has doubled down on their efforts, and we're thrilled to share that as of this writing they've raised nearly $16,000 in support of our Assistance Programs!
We'd like to acknowledge their Communications Team which took on the project last year and worked tirelessly and very creatively to sell many different types of Pink Patch items.
The end result? The Comms Team raised $6,100! We'll post photos from our recent check acceptance but for now, join us in saying THANK YOU to the OHAPD.

HERS Team Member Highlight
|
|
|
 |
We know you've missed our volunteer and team member profiles so we're bringing it back for 2022. We'll start off with featuring...Bobbie!
Bhargavi (Bobbie) Parikh began volunteering at HERS in May 2021 and was inspired to get involved by her friend, a HERS breast cancer patient who praised us for the level of care and quality products she received.
Bobbie also has a strong desire to connect with others on a personal and professional level. Her past volunteer experience includes stints at Pratham USA and the Fremont Senior Center.
Bobbie worked in Billing and Accounting under the supervision of HERS Administrative Director Rebecca Lalwani. Bobbie's tasks included insurance claims follow up, mailing statements, and Salesforce data entry.
Her impact was significant and within just a few months we were able to offer her a part-time position which she accepted in October 2021.
Originally from India, Bobbie emigrated to the US at the age of 9 and grew up in Queens in New York City. She has a B.A. in Business Administration and has been a Fremont resident for 35 years. When not volunteering, Bobbie enjoys oil painting, long walks, hiking, and traveling with her husband.
The next time you visit our Fremont location, be sure to say hello to Bobbie!

Community members give us so much love, including generous in-kind product donations and handmade items. A huge thanks to (clockwise from top left):
We're also grateful to our friend, Janice G., who passed on a voluminous candy donation, a gift that will help make our goody bag packets for the Tri-Valley SOCKs' Bras for a Cause Walk (May 7, 2022) that much sweeter.

TRI-VALLEY SOCKS BRAS FOR THE CAUSE EVENT RETURNS!
|
|
|
As mentioned above, The Tri-Valley SOCKs beloved The Bras for the Cause Walk will return Saturday, May 7th! This a "don't miss" event for several reasons, including the fact that this all-volunteer group has decided to make 2022 their final year.
That fact alone should convince us to register and attend but there's much more to it: this event is very spirited and very enjoyable and it's highly impactful. How impactful? To date, the TVSOCKs has donated over 2 MILLION dollars to its beneficiary nonprofits, a group that includes HERS!
The evening walk will start and end at Pleasanton's Amador Valley Community Park. In addition to the walk itself, there will be a raffle, costume contest, community information booths, entertainment, and giveaways. Questions? Check out their FAQ page.
