January 2023

Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope that you had a wonderful final week of 2022 and were able to benefit from some well-deserved rest. I was fortunate enough to have my time filled with family gatherings, lots of food, movies with the nieces and nephews (“Wakanda forever!”), and karaoke nights. These refilled my cup, and I am now ready to face the new year.

2023 is an exciting time for us as it is CCDI’s 10-year anniversary. We have a lot of events and offerings coming up to celebrate, prime among these being our CCDI UnConference. Our list of impressive guest speakers is growing and I’m excited to hear about their experiences over the last 10 years of DEI and their vision for a more inclusive Canada. I hope you’ll join us.

This month’s Leader Talk podcast will feature Brian Carwana, the Executive Director of Encounter World Religions Centre. There has been quite a bit of rhetoric around religious-based hate of late, and this conversation helps to better understand the impact and what we can do to create a more inclusive workplace.

In this vein, we will also be offering a free webinar called “Antisemitism: How to recognize and prevent it in the workplace”, where we will sit down with leaders in the Canadian-Jewish community to discuss what organizations can do to define and combat antisemitism in the workplace and beyond.

I hope that 2023 has been wonderful for you so far. See you all next month!

All the best,

Anne-Marie Pham

CEO
