THE WOMEN'S HEALTH EQUITY INITIATIVE
SWHR's Women’s Health Equity Initiative includes a health equity roadmap as well as video series featuring stories from caregivers, patients, and physicians in the spaces of Alzheimer's disease, bone health, maternal health, and menopause.

What is SWHR reading? A National Academics news release on clinical trial representation calls for urgent actions to improve the representation of racial and ethnic minority groups and other underrepresented populations in research. This gap in trial diversity has compounded health disparities and created serious consequences for underrepresented groups and for the nation.
JUNE AWARENESS MONTHS
ALZHEIMER'S AND BRAIN AWARENESS MONTH
National Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month is this June. SWHR has worked to advance Alzheimer's care and research for decades. Read more on the blog, and explore disparities in Alzheimer's patient and caregiver wellness in SWHR's Women's Health Equity Initiative. CATARACT AWARENESS MONTH
This June marks National Cataract Awareness Month. Many eye diseases are more prevalent in women, including cataracts. Learn more about preventing, diagnosing, and managing eye diseases in women with SWHR's toolkit: A Guide to Women’s Eye Health. Check out additional eye health resources online at swhr.org.
INFERTILITY AWARENESS MONTH
June is National Infertility Awareness Month. Infertility affects men and women equally, but women often bear the burden of fertility management and treatment. Join SWHR for a fertility webinar on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. ET: How Hormones Can Tell a Fertility Story. MIGRAINE AND HEADACHE AWARENESS MONTH
June is also National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month. Migraine is three times more common in women than men and can place significant burdens on women and their families. Learn more about migraine wellness in women with the SWHR Migraine Patient Wellness Toolkit.

What is SWHR reading? "BoneHealthResources.com," from Amgen and UCB is a new website for health systems and health care professionals. The site was created to share key tools and resources to support osteoporosis and post-fracture care needs.

POLICY
SWHR joined Women’s Health Access Matters in calling for Congress to accelerate women’s health research, especially for diseases that disproportionately affect women. In support of this call, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Representative Jan Schakowsky introduced a resolution in May. Read more: SWHR Supports Resolution to Expand Women’s Health Research
