Staff Updates
Mrs. Trish Bolster will serve as Vice Principal/Director of Activities for 2022-2023. She will also serve as Assistant Campus Minister. She will continue to teach a part-time schedule of three periods in the English Department. (Ms. Eileen Poplaski will continue in her role as Vice Principal/Director of Studies.)
Coach Alanna Stuart will not return as the Head Coach of Girls Lacrosse. We thank her for all her work in developing this program for our girls!
Reminders for Seniors and Families
All seniors are expected at Graduation practice on Tuesday, May 24, after the second exam (10:30 a.m.). On Wednesday, Graduation practice will take place after the Awards Ceremony. Students who do not take final examinations on Tuesday are still expected at practice.
All seniors must attend Baccalaureate if they wish to attend Graduation.
The doors for both Baccalaureate and Graduation will open at 6:15 p.m., with the ceremonies beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Uniform Collection
Any uniform item in good condition that will no longer be used or does not fit is wanted for our Uniform Closet. These donations allow us provide needed uniform items to students. Items can be brought to the Main Office or left in the front vestibule. Thank you for your donations!
Financial Aid
Trinity families who applied for financial aid will see their financial aid package applied to their FACTS account by the last day of school (Wednesday, June 8). Anyone who wants to request financial aid, but has not yet completed the application, must do so ASAP. Find the application here.
Field Hockey: 2022-23 School Year
Trinity plans to offer Field Hockey as a club sport in the coming school year in anticipation of becoming a sponsored PIAA sport in the future. Interested Trinity students, as well as middle school students at Saint Joseph, Saint Patrick, and Saint Theresa Schools, should fill out this form.
Service Hours
A reminder that service hours for students in grades 9 through 11 were due to theology teachers by May 23. This is a Trinity High School requirement.
All students may begin doing summer service hours as of June 1. There are summer service opportunities already posted on the Rocks in Motion website. There is no limit to the number of summer service hours, so long as the organization is a non-profit whose mission aligns with that of the Catholic Church.
Final Examinations: Grades 9 to 11
The final exam schedule is as follows:
Friday, June 3--Theology and Science
Monday, June 6--Social Studies and Foreign Languages
Tuesday, June 7--English and Math
All exams will be completed by 10:45 a.m. each day, and students will be dismissed after their last exam. Students who do not have a second exam may leave the building or wait for their rides in the cafeteria, but they may not move around the building. Some students may have a conflict (for example, two math or two science exams), in which case they will need to sit for one exam from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Students who receive accommodations and test with Mr. Spogli will likely remain past 10:45 a.m., staying as late as 11:45 a.m.
We expect all students to be present for all exam days. Requests for family trip days cannot be honored during final exam days. Students who are ill will need to complete their missed exams upon their return to school. Failure to complete final exams may result in incompletes or failing grades for the school year. Remote students are asked to come to school to complete their exams in person.

Advance sales of the 2022 Yearbook have ended. After the yearbooks are delivered, remaining available yearbooks will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis (made available to seniors first). Lucas Puig
School: Trinity High School
Parents: Alejandro Puig and Ana Myers
In his words: "Trinity High School uses a House System with the student body split into four houses. “As a junior, I decided to become a ministry leader within my mentor group (a small group of about 15 students who meet each day). …
"It gave me the confidence to apply for the largest leadership role at Trinity at the end of my junior year, School Captain. As School Captain it is my job to run and monitor the entirety of the House System. I meet with faculty and peers regularly to plan and execute schoolwide events, and I have the responsibility of speaking to crowds very frequently. This role has elevated my public speaking skills dramatically, and I am no longer nervous to give presentations and talk to large groups. Overall, being school captain has allowed me to form close bonds with others that I would have never formed if I did not apply for the position. I have been able to leave a large mark on the school as a whole, and I have given my best effort to making my senior year the best one yet.”
In their words: “… Through all of these accomplishments, Lucas has a humility that allows him to be seen as just ‘one of the guys.’ Unlike others who may allow such accolades to go to their heads, Lucas does not hold himself above others. He is humble, strong, and grounded. These qualities are rarely seen today, and he has them in spades. … He is a strong young man with the courage of his convictions and a strong moral core." - the Rev. Timothy J. Sahd, pastor, Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown
Honors: National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction, Excellence in AP Calculus Award, Excellence in Honors Spanish 3 award, 12th grade School Captain, president of the National Honor Society and earned Wrestler with the Highest GPA Award three times.
Activities: Patriots Club, varsity cross country, varsity track and field, varsity wrestling, community service and works part time at Bruster’s.
Mentor: John Cominsky, principal of Trinity High School
Plans: Will attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology to double major in computer science and business.

Isabela Wilson
School: Trinity High School
Parents: Linda Chavez-Wilson and Michael Wilson
In her words: “If I could change anything in the world, it would be our world’s rampant mistreatment of children. Events such as the current pandemic have shown us that stopping something that runs rampant in society is a daunting task. We have also seen, however, how a community’s actions can lead to tremendous change.
"For my part, I established The Ivy Project, in my freshman year. The non-profit organization creates ‘no-sew’ blankets which are donated to children at local domestic violence shelters. Using my school leadership positions, I also organized holiday-themed gifts for children at the shelters. … The purpose in establishing these events was to open up the children to the idea that they are part of a community which surrounds them and is ready to help them in any way it can.”
In their words: “Isabela completely exceeded my expectations while maintaining her pleasant demeanor. She is a wonderful young lady. While I taught her, she was always poised and kind. She was always open to working hard, took copious notes and applied the suggestions that I gave her. I never heard Isabela complain; rather, she always rose to the occasion of the challenges I put before her. What made Isabela best among her peers was her self-motivation to study. She went the extra mile, practiced more tests and did what was necessary to achieve the highest scores – and she did.
Isabela simply amazes me. She carries an overall 4.551 GPA while remaining a well-rounded person” – Debora Petersen, M.Ed., Educational Breakthroughs, LLC Tutoring Center
Honors: College Board National Hispanic Scholar, American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese National Spanish Exam Level 1 silver medal and Level 2 gold medal, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency certificate of merit for SAT score.
Activities: Founder of the Ivy Project to make and provide blankets for children at risk of domestic violence, volunteer for Randi’s House of Angels Camp for Hope and Courage, ministry and communications coordinator for school’s De La Salle House and pianist at Harrisburg Capital Area Chapter of the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association honors recital.
Mentor: John Cominsky, principal, Trinity High School
Plans: Will attend Cornell University to major in computer science and international relations.

Sports Awards
PennLive hosted its annual High School Sports Awards banquet at Central Penn College on Wednesday, May 18. The athletes in attendance were ones that shined and are considered to be among the best of the best at their respective sports in Central Pennsylvania from this school year.
Awards were given to the top athletes in their sport, as voted on by PennLive. Several major awards were handed out as well, including male and female athlete of the year, coach of the year, the play of the year, and the courage award. Congratulations to the two Trinity students, Kari Powell '23 and Croix Teter '22, who represented Trinity. Kari was both the Female Athlete of the Year and Girls Swimmer of the Year, and Croix was Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year! See the full list in this article.
|
|
Female Athlete of the Year
Kari Powell, Trinity: Kari comes from a football household. Her brother Lek was a standout quarterback at Bishop McDevitt who went on to play in college, and her father, Chance, is a well-known coach in the area. But, when she is done, the Powell household might be known more for swimming -- or maybe even soccer. Powell made the most noise in swimming across the past two years, winning back-to-back state titles in the 100 breaststroke. But, the multi-sport star will be playing soccer at the next level, committing to Division I High Point University in North Carolina.
Girls Swimmer of the Year
Kari Powell, Trinity: Kari, a junior, took home a state title in the 100 breaststroke for the second year in a row, and, for the second year in a row, she also took home PennLive’s girls swimmer of the year honor. She recorded a personal best of 1:03.65 at the state championships.

Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year
Croix Teter, Trinity: His teammates call him “The Silent X,” but Croix makes a whole lot of noise on the field. After tallying 45 goals and 12 assists last season, he has followed that up with 48 goals, 1 assist, 46 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers thus far in 2022. His Shamrocks play in the District 3 quarterfinals tomorrow night.
