West Shore Blvd resurfacing project included in County plan

The Hillsborough County Commission approved funding for resurfacing West Shore Blvd between Kennedy Blvd and Spruce St / Boy Scout Blvd. West Shore Blvd is one of eight major road resurfacing projects funded by the County’s share of the American Rescue Plan. Construction is tentatively scheduled for late 2022. It will include new midblock crossings at Westshore City Center and near Ruth’s Chris, narrowed lanes, and new speed limit warnings for the lower speed limit of 35mph. Through a partnership with the Westshore Alliance, new landscaping will also be installed.

The improvements were part of the County’s West Shore Blvd Complete Streets study in 2020. The pedestrian enhancements were included thanks to the advocacy of the Westshore Alliance Transportation Committee members.
