Science of Skin Color

Quarterly, the virtual Project Center gathers together current and past participants of the Wilmette Institute’s Anti-Black Racism in the U.S. course to learn from, and reflect on, participants’ meaningful creative initiative for racial justice and unity in their communities. This time they participated in a workshop about the science of skin color created and presented by Khela Baskett.

Isolated Believer Builds Confidence in the Power of Devotionals

Patricia Rowe of Nyssa, Oregon, takes Wilmette Institute courses to be a part of the larger Baha'i community, to be brought back in touch with the dialogue taking place, and to keep the larger picture – the goals of the Faith – in view. The unit on the Mashriqu’l-Adhkar (Baha'i House of Worship) in the course Praying Together: The Devotional Gathering expanded her thinking on what she can do as an isolated believer. The idea that one person can carry the Mashriqu’l-Adhkar in their attitude and outlook gave her a conceptual tool with which to act.

Learner Embraces Education to Develop Global Governance

The most important thing that Anne Grove Wilson of Columbus, Ohio, gained from the coursework in Building a New System of Global Governance is a new perspective on governance. To that end, she is building conversations with those who are interested in the topic. She also sees current forms of government from a different perspective.

Use Common Sense with Food Expiration Dates

Food expiration dates are rough estimates about food quality and generally don’t refer to food safety. So, while food is always more nutritious when fresh, there is no need to throw out food that is still edible. . . .

April and May Courses

Orientation Course Still Available

The Wilmette Institute's "extension" (non-credit) courses now begin with a one-week course orienting students to Moodle, the Baha'i conceptual framework for action, and the importance of public discourse. The orientation course is designed to focus the extension courses and the students on these essential elements so that they can apply the course material in support of the Nine Year Plan. The course is free and we invite EVERYONE to take it now and give us feedback so we can improve it. It is self guided. Enter the enrollment key: 2023.
